Not that this will help you in the short term, but I was under the impression that WoTC was producing a setting book for the Unther, Thay, Mulholland area......

Is this correct, or am I delusional???

I believe that Unapproachable East will feature further south of Unther and Mulhorand.
In 2e the Unapproachable East was all the land east of the Shining Sea area, that is, Halruaa, Durpar, Var, etc.

thanks for all the responses! scott, i've gone out and bought the ESD of old empires and dowloaded your 3e supplement. thanks for the inspiration.

Glad I could help DB.

I've got another book coming out later this year that (while not set in the Forgotten Realms) has a few things in it that should be applicable to the region. More on that when the publisher makes their official announcement.

The links others have provided should be a good start. You should also try:

thanks scott. :) prespos' site is pretty freakin cool if i may say so. he was one of our "FR gang" that used to hang out all the time back in the day, when TSR was hosted on AOL.

that, and he posted a whole bunch of links to the Creature Catalog is pretty cool. :) BTW, there's a few conversions of old empires monsters on the CC, namely the dracosphinx and desert wraith. :) www.enworld.org/cc

You are both wrong. Halruaa, Durpar, etc. are in the Shining South. The Unapproachable East is constituted of Thay, Rashem, Argoland, etc. Unther, Mul, and Chessenta are known as the Old Empires. Whether or not such a regional supp will come to light is not yet known, but it would be my best bet for what is coming down the pipe next given the criteria some of the design team laid down for the regional supplements on the message boards.
