Free Mini-encounters Posted!

The-Never.Net Has just started a new project- a collection of interesting encounters suitable for side-treks or mini-adventures.

I plan to organize them by Challenge Rating. For now I am working up the line- I have CR1 and CR2 posted. CR3 is nearly done. I will probably post at least one encouner all the way up to CR9.

CR Semantics

Wouldn't that be Encounter Level, not Challenge Rating?

Seems like most people confuse these two. They should not be used interchangeably.

It would also help to know if the encounters are designed for a party of 4 characters and how to tweak them for parties of higher or lower numbers.

Well, I see your point! I think I am talking about encounter level: a party of four characters of roughly equal level should find it an interesting encounter.

I see I'll have to re-read that part of the DMG and edit my web-page though. Thank you for your input..!

I plan to make these more complex as they go up in difficulty, and I wanted to really focus on mixed-pair type encounters.

This will hopefully show through when I post my EL 3 encounter. It features a group of highwaymen (a 2nd level Tefling fighter armed with a double-bladed sword and 6 kobolds) who have set up a roadside ambush. The kobolds attack from behind cover and use tactics, and the tiefling NPC is just a tough 2nd level fighter. Well, I think it's a pretty good encounter, anyhow.

It is always nice to have something different to throw into the mix, and I think these would be good divirsions for what normally goes on in the games.

I put a new one up!

I just finished an EL 3 encounter: an outdoor kobold ambush with a twist- the tiefling boss lady. Strike terror into the hearts of a 3rd level party!

They remind me of the Random Encounter Cards from 2e.

Unfortunately my PC's are at level 12 but I can still beef those up.
