Is this info meant to be used as the introduction of a new species or just a specific hero?
1st Appearance is our M&M Superlink product line, in which we introduce an entirely new M&M mechanic, using a specific hero as an example. So,
1st Appearance: T.O.M.C.A.T.S offered rules for modular cybernetics, using the T.O.M.C.A.T.S team as a backdrop.
1st Appearance: Luminous is all about superhero origins in general. It presents a new mechanic: the origin feat.
There are 35+ entries for different origin archetypes, such as the Crazed Inventor, the Feyblooded, and the Martial Artist. In addition to the unique origin feat, each entry gives ideas for how that type of hero might get their start and gives suggestions for powers, feats, etc. These entries are broken up into categories based on power sources: alien, mutation, mystical, super-science, and training. Each category has a bunch of entries and one sample character using one of the entries. So, the Alien section has a bunch of other entries, like the Interplanetary Warlord, the Star-Spanning Mercenary, etc. At the end of that section, we offer Luminous, a sample Intergalactic Officer of the Peace.
For the free preview, I just re-formatted to make things smoother. The book will not have more info on Luminous's alien species. But that might make for a good web enhancement. Hmmm....
