Nope. I liked the first trilogy (or two) but haven't liked anything since. Does it keep a body count? "Ah page 45, 24 orcs down, 976 left to go." :)

As a side note did anyone else notice the advertisement of this on Dragon Magazine.

It showed Drizzit surrounded by 30 orcs all with numbers on them. The numbers correspond with a short description of how he kills each one.

Talk about a dumb advertisement. Salvatore must be a :):):):)ty DM. Give me 30 orcs against even a 20th level fighter alone and without any magic besides his swords and armor and I will give you a dead fighter. Sure he may cut down 5 or 6 of them in his glorious attack but the instant 8 of them surround him then group grapple him he will be pinned. Then it is a simple action for them to slit his throat and kill him.

Driz should last about 12 seconds in that battle unless his first action is to run away using those anklets of speed.

I'm no Drizzt fan, but a 20th level fighter would probably still win if orcs tried that. Starting the grapple provokes an AoO, the resulting great cleave should clear the decks for the next round. If they hang back, he spring attacks in (more great cleaves) and out again. On the chance that an orc manages to make the melee touch attack to grab the fighter, he's going to have to be very lucky to win the opposed grapple check (fighter +20 + Str, Orc +1+str) to actually start a grapple.

If the orcs are lucky they might roll well early against a weak fighter and prolong their fate, but typically the fighter will be taking down eight orcs per round and the orcs will almost never hit. It will take a while, but I would still put odds on the L20 fighter.

Why don't these orcs have class levels? I think they should all be 5th level warriors at least (probably higher) if they're going up against Drizzt (or a hypothetical 20th level fighter).

Of Drizzt isn't 20th level, advantage hypothetical fighter!

Oh yeah, they don't have class levels because it's a book and game rules are irrelevant.
