The Lock Spider is cool and the combat lawnmower might be over the top but the last guy who came out with a combat lawn mower went on to direct the Lord of the Rings... Dragon magazine doesn't know what it's missing.

Ha! Actually, I've penned about half a dozen articles for Dragon in the past 3 months. Getting stuff printed there was (and still is) a big goal of mine. I've been reading Dragon since, aw man, 1986 or so and always looked forward to the newest issue. It just goes to show that everyone has to start somewhere. Before I wrote full-time, I was just another fan posting on the Internet and pining to get published.

If I'm feeling masochistic, I'll post some of the very, very bad fiction I wrote back in the day. It'll be a good object lesson in "No matter how bad you are, if you try hard enough for long enough someone may give you a shot."

Not only are you a great writer, but you are very thoughtful as well!

Thank you for the freebies, and have a great holiday!

Did I miss the d20 conversion of "Fear the Worst"? I can't find it in the links you posted.

The conversion will hopefully be up by Sunday. Magic: The Gathering and Gene Wolfe's The Shadow of the Torturer consumed a lot of my free time over the past week. Wolfe's New Sun series is fantastic. Highly recommended.

You have free time with all the material you crank out?! Seriously, your work and dedication to the industry is above and beyond. I aspire to be your "Jr. Asst. Pencil Sharpener", Mr. Mearls! :D

I read that series about 10 years ago. At that time, it didn't make much sense to me, but that's mostly because I don't particularly like the unreliable narrator as a story gimmick. (The only one that I liked was "Remains of the day", which I read after seeing that incredible performance by Anthony Hopkins)
