The release date for our second official product, The Book of Templates, is fast approaching (more details on this release to follow!).

To celebrate the occasion, we have put a free bonus template on our website for everyone to sample. Check out our website at www.silverthornegames.com and click on our "Free Stuff" page to download the file. We hope you enjoy the template, but remember - it's really for the GM's eyes only! ;)

Cheers!

I notice that plants can get the quickened template, and it adds 20 ft. to the base speed. If the base speed is 0 ft., can it now move at the speed of a small character?

+50% would probably be better than a fixed boost to the movement rate.

Other than that quibble, I think it is a very elegant and well-done template. If the other templates in The Book of Templates are of this quality it should become quite the success.

Regards,

Thanks for pointing that little detail out, Cheiro! We'll tweak it to suit and a corrected version should be up within the hour. Thanks for the positive feedback, too :) That always helps!

Cheers!
Ian

Edit - The correction has been made and the new file is available now :)

Crothian (and all interested others),

Sure, we can provide a list! We're close enough to release time that I think I can supply the good folks at EN World with the list of templates incuded in the BoT (it's long, but here we go!):

Amorphous
Argent Servitor
Blind Oracle
Demi-Gorgon - not to be confused with Demogorgon !
Denizen of the Deep
Dreadnaught
Ebon Servitor - a nasty little template. one of my faves!
Elemental
Enchanted
Ethereal
Feral
Ferrovore
Half-Genie
Half-Giant
Half-Human - for those non-human-centric campaigns ;)
Half-Nymph
Half-Orc
Heightened
Hypermitotic
Immortal
Phantasmal
Plantform
Scryling - not combat-friendly, but definitely a challenge!
Siphon Beast
Skeleton, Greater
Skinhusk
Vampire, Phobian
Voidspawn
Wretched
Zombie, Greater

That's 30 templates. Plus, we are also finishing a web enhancement that will include another 8-10 templates in addition to the free ones we post on our site (a second should be forthcoming in the next week or so).

BTW, thanks for the kind words, we really appreciate it! :)

Cheers, all!
Ian

That's a nice sounding list. Man, the players will not know what hit them when you take these templates and apply them to the commonly known monsters. Thanks for the listed them, Frilf. :)

Actually, art was a secondary consideration for this project. So, there will be minimal art in the BoT. However, there will be a return of all the aforementioned artists in Races of Evernor II & III, as well as a few new folks -- all top drawer illustrators, as far as I'm concerned.

Besides, we wanted to focus on the ideas and mechanics of the templates and let the GM's creativity reign supreme in how best to use them. We thought long and hard about illustrating some of the templates, but we didn't want to railroad anyone's notions of how they should be applied into a set way of thinking.

Having said that, we'd love to be able to illustrate each template, but we just wrote too darn many of them ;) Budget, y'know.

Cheers!
Ian

Don't you see? This is the time when you go to the miniature and illustration forum and say "This is a big chance to get your work noticed. This is a non-paying job but exposure is good." I'm sure that at least two or three people might pip up. Of course if they did anything, that's another story. I keep hearing horror tales about paid artists who don't do the work. Sheesh. "No, I'd really love to take your money but instead I've decided that I must hunt the elusive Kufku Coffee Bean to provide me with inspiration. I regret putting your project in the hole 2 months and forcing you to pay higher rates to different artists for short notice delivery."
