Freedom of Movement and Armor...

Does Freedom of Movement allow you to get your full movement in armor that would otherwise hinder that movement? Also, would it negate any Armor Check penalities?

Hi!

The spell description says:

This spell enables you or a creature you touch to move and attack normally for the duration of the spell, even under the
influence of magic that usually impedes movement

As I understand it, the speed reduction caused by armor would be gone as would be the ACP.

IMO it wouldn't, since you still use the armor. Freedom of movement lets you liberate yourself from things that affect your mobility, from creatures or elements who want to restrain you. Since you decide to put on your armor and use it, Freedom of Movement shouldnt help in regards of movement and armor check penalties (all of this IMO).

I'd let someone with FoM get OUT of armor real quick, tho :D

This one is entirely up to the interpretation of the DM. The spell does not specifically say that you can, but it does say that you "move and attack normally for the duration of the spell." I'm undecided on this one, because you could get someone in full plate with a ring of freedom of movement really abusing this.

A matter in interpretation, but note that:
...The subject automatically succeeds on any grapple check made to resist a grapple attempt, as well as on grapple checks or Escape Artist checks made to escape a grapple or a pin.
The spell also allows the subject to move and attack normally while underwater...

That sure seems like it would allow you to ignore all limitations of armor - even spell failure. That would be a legitimate interpretation, as would not allowing it.

Of course, then you might be asked to ignore the limitations of carrying heavy equipment as well - also a legitimate interpretation, even if it is a bit of a stretch.
