[Freelancers] The Good Publishers Thread

Roudi

First Post
As suggested in a previous thread, this is meant to be a place where freelancers in the RPG industry can sound off about publishers and employers with which they've had good experiences. If they were decent people, paid on time, were understanding of circumstances, or whatever, let us know here.,

RPGObjects - These are good fellows to work with. They've paid me in a timely manner and are always responsive to requests. Also, getting their permission to use their OGC content is very easy.

TheLe Games - TheLe is all sorts of good. He presented me with a very easy-to-understand contract and paid on time.

The Brood - Though I haven't had a paying job from them yet, Ralts is one of the best designers to work with. The whole company runs like a family.

Great thread!

1. Bastion Press: Took me from an Oathbound junkie to fansite, playtester, proofreader, and sometimes writer. I can't say enough good things about this under-appreciated company.

2. Vanishing Goblin: Worked on their first Open Call, Rooms with a View. Very professional, personable, and great at communicating about the various issues that come up during the whole process.

Just check out the RPG credits section of my web site (link in sig, below). There's not a company listed with whom I've had excessively bad experiences. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there were no problems here and there. But every one of them has, in the balance, been more positive than negative. :)

I've had very good relations with the folks at Goodman Games, Mongoose, Bastion Press, Adamant Ent., Ronin Arts, and even Green Ronin for their single open call. All are easy to deal with and pay promptly.

RPGobjects has always paid me on time.

Louis J Porter and Ronin Arts also paid me on time.

On a personal note, all three companies were also great to work with.

Second the vote on Vanishing Goblin. They've been very gracious about my needing to change a check too! Very professional.

Also (out of those I've written for):

Bastion Press
Blue Devil Games
Necromancer Games

All class act publishers.

Of the companies I've worked for, here is my list of the "good ones":

Goodman Games (always at the top of my list)
Code Monkey Publishing (they run a close second, I can't recommend them enough)
Zeitgeist Games
WotC
Sword & Sorcery Studios
Bastion Press
Dire Kobold (are they even still around?)
Goldleaf Games
