Freeport in Hostile Climes (from Pinnacle?)

Pinnacle posted a preview PDF of their upcoming fantasy product, Hostile Climes, which apparently features a town at the bottom of a whirlpool (pretty hostile, I guess).

Anyway, they included the entire table of contents and index, and under F, Freeport is mentioned.

It would make sense, since the town at the bottom of the whirlpool is also a pirate town.

Didn't Freeport make a brief visit to Hell as well, recently?

I think it's just cruel what these sadistic designers are inflicting on the hapless denizens of that town....

ROFL. I LOVE to see what everyone else is doing with Freeport! (I'm also incredibly glad I don't have to live there, sheesh!) :D

G'day all,

I'm about to review Depths of Despair and I've got to say that one of the coolest things about it (don't take this comment as a negative on the quality of the rest of the product) is it's use of OGC. The ship rules reference Fantasy Flight Game's Seafarers Handbook as the source and PEG reprint the Freeport Pirate prestige class from Green Ronin (with slight changes) and recommend several times through the text using Freeport to supplement the product. In fact the last couple of pages are an add for Green Ronin and FFG.

I admit they could have taken it one step further and used the Mongoose Slayers Guide to Sahuagin but with Mongoose being British and the others all American.....;-)

Now I just need Freeport to land in Austalia and I'll be a happy camper (well that plus CoC and Deities & Demigods)

I love seeing this sharing of resources. OGC, PEG, FFG and GR rule ;-)

Cheers

On a sort of related note, Mystic Eye features both Bluffside and Freeport within its worldbook for Gothos. The book also endorses Mongoose's "Seas of Blood" for sea rules and even reprints some OGC bits from it. It's certainly nice to see publishers doing this.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread...

Hey Dazza,

If you have not seen our Worldbook for The Hunt: Rise of Evil yet we did much the same thing. We feature Freeport (from GR) just outside our pirate clan nation called Sheena, We feature Bluffside (from TG) in the nation of Kirkland, We used the Seas of Blood supplement from Mongoose for our seafaring rules with an excerpt and examples using the OGC.
We even dedicated a half page to mentioning other books from these fine companies that would be a good fit. This book got into retail stores a few weeks ago but was late getting out for review.

The bottom line is if you need a new world and pick up our Worldbook you automatically have two fully fleshed out cities, Sea rules already in place, and our other books that are out and forthcoming. This makes it a very well supported setting and easy to get started in. My greatest hope is that by doing things like this we create a synergy of sales and support that will help both consumers and publishers alike.

Oh yeah, In our upcoming release, UrbanBlight, we are using the half-Ogre Template from Bastion Press that appears in Minions in addition to some other good OGC from 3rd party guys. Jim Butler was very kind about our use of that material. Yes, I know it is OGC but as a fellow publisher I always ask.

Also, Dazza, drop me a line some time. I have not heard from ya in a bit and like to keep in touch with happenings down under. I am not sure if you remember me telling you but I lived in Bondi Beach for about a year and would love to come back to Aussie land at some point.

I think it's just terrible what everyone is doing with Freeport. I've heard that Who's your Daddy? Games has spanked Freeport and sent it to bed without any supper. Tch, tch, tch...

(It's a great thing what GR has done. It's no surprise it's getting such broad support.)
