Freeport

I don't run modules.

How tied is this product to the series of modules? If I were to buy this and not buy the modules, would that make the product less useful? For instance, is it set up in such a way that it assumes the events in the modules have or will take place and you're lost if you haven't got them?

Freeport: The City of Adventure works just fine even if you don't have the modules. It does assume that the events in the modules have taken place, but this is all explained in the history section that sets up the current situation. If haven't got the modules, you'll still have all the info you need right there in the book.

In other words, get the book! :)

Btw, Ren, any chance you could give us a low down on the more...upscale parts of town? :)

Just got home from work, but I'll post a little more after supper and some rest :)

Ren

Shameless bump.

(Since Ren is apparently the only person on the continent who has his copy of Freeport already, I'm dying to hear more of what he thinks!) :D

And for us, the non-reviewers, when will we have it?

BTW, if you send me a copy I swear I will do a review here and/or rpg.net in less than a week. :)
Seriously.

Well, I read the book all last night and I'm still not finished yet. I suppose that is a good thing. The material is engaging and enjoyable to read. The section on the Serpent's Teeth Islands was interesting. Details are given on A'Val, T'Wik, Windward and Leeward islands. Each section gives a solid adventure hook.

I'm currently reading about the different districts of Freeport. Drac's End, Scurvytown... and so on...

I'm not sure if Kolthar was mentioned in the Freeport Modules, but he bears mention here. I'll leave his history and description for you to read but will say that he is a new Undead Template called a "Fire Spectre". He is a great NPC to scare your players with.... spooky.

I'm still reading... and will post more as I go.

We've been eagerly awaiting any report of it showing up at the retail level, it should be available to retailers any day now. It shipped from Osseum to distributors last week, and I was really hoping to have seen it out there by now!

People who want to be added to my review list should send e-mail to nicole@greenronin.com... no promises, but I do like to have a healthy list of potential reviewers handy when new product comes out. :D

Chris told me it was on it's way... but I still haven't seen it. I thought it had come yesterday when my wife told me I got a package, but that was just sqiggle-dee being speedy in getting the packages out. :)

I am curious to see how this turns out. I have a lot of faith in Green Ronin primarily stemming from Legions of Hell. But I have never played nor read the Freeport adventures.
