Friday 13th Remake

The Grumpy Celt

Paper PlanesI’m not certain what to make of this, but I will probably give it a chance. I actually like the original “Friday the 13th.” It has some nice moments. Most of the following movies are increasingly stupid. I also like both the original “Chainsaw Massacre” and even the remake of “Chainsaw Massacre.” I view them as very separate entities, like wildly different versions of some kind of classic play. So… I probably will see this flick.

Jason is the only horror movie I'd probably appreciate a remake of, considering that the story is so far off course or has ended so many times its time to have a retelling. Now, nightmare on elm street IS Robert Englund, a remake of that without him is blasphemy. Michael Myers remake was ok, but i felt that during the original movies they still had a bit more of his story if we go back to the end of 5 and even 6.

The voice was faked electronically, and he wore a metric ton of make-up, so much so that just about any skinny guy would be indistinguishable as him. But other than that, yeah he's da man. ;)

As to Friday the 13th, the interviewees pretty handily demonstrated through their own words how a Friday remake is kind of pointless. Jason doesn't do torture or fancy kills. In today's theatre of Hostels and Saws and Hills Haves Eyes and other sadistic flicks, a simple machete in the head is rather bland.

His voice was altered, not faked and th emake-up is part of the character... not sure what point you're trying to make. Freddie's personality, which is what made the films so fun, was all Robert. *shrug

It's like the remake of The Hitcher. Rutger Hauer defined the character and while Sean Bean is a fine actor, his version was not nearly as creepy as Hauer's original.
