1. Give us an overview of your product line.
12 to Midnight (www.12tomidnight.com) publishes modern horror adventures for both the d20 System and Savage Worlds. We also have a campaign setting also called 12 to Midnight. The primary setting includes a fictional town called Pinebox, Texas and a custom class for paranormal investigation. Soon we’ll be rolling out expanded details on the Pinebox setting, including updated maps and place descriptions. All the campaign setting material is available for free off our website.
2. Tell us at length about your most recent project (upcoming or just released).
Our next big project is an adventure called Bloodlines. It is a huge, three-part adventure set in Pinebox, Texas. There’s all sorts of twists and turns I don’t want to spoil, but in general it’s about digging up the past to solve a mystery in the present. It’s been a real treat to write because I’ve been able to incorporate bits of history like WWI and Vietnam into character bios to make their lives more realistic. Speaking of realistic, we’re also incorporating more than a dozen handouts to make the adventure more tangible for the players. I’d also like to add that the artwork for Bloodlines is top notch—I think the GM and players alike will be impressed. Writing on Bloodlines is complete (at 100 pages), and we’re now in the editing phase. We have every indication we’re on target to release Bloodlines for the d20 System in late March. Hopefully a Savage Worlds version will follow closely thereafter.
3. What is your main target audience and how much of a spread beyond that do you feel is likely, first for your line(s), then for your most recent?
We definitely cater to a niche market—d20 Modern or Savage Worlds players running horror campaigns who buy PDFs. That’s not exactly a huge pool of potential customers, but our goal is to establish a reputation as the highest-quality publisher for that niche. To spread beyond our current base, we need to move into the print world and introduce our adventures to players from other horror systems like White Wolf or Call of Cthulhu.
4. What is the main thing about your company that makes you most proud?
I’m very proud of the genuine dedication to producing only quality adventures. All five board members recognize how our names and reputations are directly tied to what we publish and how we conduct our customer service. All of us want reputations we can be proud of. Unfortunately, that seems to be missing from a lot of companies these days.
5. Where do you see your company one year from now?
We’d hope to have a product or two in print and a solid reputation as a top-notch publisher.
