Friday Night post-ENnies

I vote for Lukeski!!! :D

Cons
-After the ceremony, peeps'll want to party, and may not pay much attention to him.
-Might reduce the serious feel of the ceremony.

Pros
-Draw. He's a regular on Dr Demento and has his own (rabid) fanbase, and I want to encourage more fandom to attend the ceremony. This is a Fan award, afterall!
-Humour: lest we take ourselves too seriously or start to get too pretentious.
-The halls we're looking at are large enough to allow peeps to party at the back, and fans of LukeSki to stay up at the front, undisturbed.
-Stupid cheap, and requires minimal equipment (two mikes and a CD player), whereas a pro-quality DJ would be more difficult.

Luke is interested in the gig, but might not be able to do the full hour due to other commitments. Which I think could be good, actually.

Sounds to me like the pros outweigh the cons...my vote is for Lukeski.

Could someone point me to web resources on this guy so I can form a more informed opinion?

http://www.lukeski.com/

http://drdemento.com/

basically, he takes popular songs and changes the lyrics to geek-related topics. his latest hit, iirc is "grease wars", where he does a medley from grease, but does star wars lyrics. jedi school drop-out almost killed me. "stealing like a hobbit" (to eminem's cleaning out my closet) was also quite popular.

Here I thought that he was asking for more information on who reveal is? ;)

He also does caricatures and had a booth next to the Ennies booth last year (Luke Ski, not reveal).

which reminds me, crothian, have you got your caricature scanned yet? or shall we bring our scanner with us when we come to invade your abode for origins?

I like Lukeski and would personally like to see him at the ENnies, but wasn't there some backlash when he performed at the Origins Awards or some other presentation a few years ago?

I think from a "serious" standpoint (and I'm all for not taking ourselves too seriously), I'm going to have to vote for having a DJ after the awards. The music will keept he party atmosphere up a bit more than his performance would, as far as the mixing, mingling, and schmoozing among the industry types goes.

If he has other commitments, can we maybe use him for a 20-30 minute intermission, then have a DJ afterwards? I know the cost then goes up, but it's a thought...
