From PP Excerpt: Power Cards Friday!

Well here at Enworld power cards are not a new concept, there is a whole thread containing templates, completed conversions and even cards for magic items and monsters.
How close to the WotC concept did we come? Will they blow our attempts away or will we prove more creative?

No matter how nice and shiny the official power cards are, I am still going to use my own. The ones I make will have a color scheme I like, be unique to me and my characters, and will be customized for my characters (no 1[W] + Str, instead 1d6 + 3).

Of course, I am very interested in seeing how the cards I started making in Febuary match up with what WotC makes.

I spent over an hour last night (and a lot of ink) printing out your cards, cutting them up nicely, getting them all in order. They look good - I'll let you know how they play out tonight.

Please do.

I am running a 4e demo on Friday night at the Guardtower in Columbus and I have a full set of my power cards (plus status cards) ready to see how the players like them. I think it will help people new to 4e conceptualize how the powers work.

I feel very much the same, I spent hours typing and shifting from one style to another getting just the look I wanted.
However WotC could come out of left field and show us a card that we never even thought about, like a 4" x 6" card where the info isn't squeezed so that you need a magnifying glass to read it and great artwork to boot. we'll see friday.

Are we there yet?

Aren't these 3-times-a-week previews supposed to be "excerpts" from either the PHB, MM, or DMG? If so, then this "power cards" preview might be nothing more than a section from the DMG explaining how you can "make" your own power cards :) Heck, they might even include a blank power card template that we can photo copy and fill in ourselves.

Otherwise, these previews will be moving away from straight excerpts and might be more "product" previews.

That said, it would be nice if they'd sell a card deck that had all the powers printed out. WotC already has some experiencing in printing cards (understatement!), so it's one of those why SHOULDN'T they scenarios.

I agree on both counts. WotC publishing power cards (or releasing them via .pdf thru the DDI) seems like a no brainer.
