Fullblade

Alright, here's the deal: My current character in our ongoing campaign is a human, fighter 4/barbarian 1 soon to prestige to frenzied berserker. His weapon is a fullblade, one size cat. larger than normal, dealing 3d8 and imposing only a -2 penalty thanks to monkey grip. I know, the perfect weapon to scratch out the words, "ridiculously over powered". You're probably asking, "why not put this in the rules section?", or possibly, "what is this character over-compensating for?" Well I'm not here to be judged by the gods of D&D rules, the problem is, our group has campaign commitment issues. So to remedy this, we decided to model our characters so as to make some sort of headway into a permanent campaign. Now, the question I have to ask is, How in the nine levels of hell, am I a going to model this behemoth of a skull smasher? Does anyone know of a good model from any company to create a good looking blade of this size?

Easiest way to make a fullblade is to use a toothpick sword aka Sword pick, to replace the mini's own sword. Trim the blade a little and you should be good.

That will have a realistic thickness for the scale of the weapon. Now if you want to exaggerate the weapon's size filing down a popsicle stick may make the result you seek.

Ridiculously overlarge weapons? Has to be Games Workshop.

Alternatively, find a figure for the rest of the character and add a huge weapon (drill & pin/superglue/greenstuff)

Yes, the tootpick sword would be an obvious choice, but, I'm looking for something a bit more thick with a much wider blade, and no hand guard. Almost like our own FF7's buster sword if you will. I've rummaged through years of reaper models and quite a few GW ones as well. I would really like to stay away from making my own (things never seem to come out quite right for me.) But if I must. As long as I have your attention, I need a model with a good bulky suit of full plate to add the sword to. Possibly holding his weapon out behind him?

escaflowne777, I know this isn't what you asked for, but maybe you could draw him and paint him and spend alot of time "noodling" as my teacher says.

Is the problem that if people don't make a mini that they wont commit to the game? I say a well noodled picture could fix that for the groups standards... well at least it doesn't hurt to ask.

Maybe you could also or instead write a long backstory.

as for a mini, you will want to look at war games with more of a extreme fantasy influence rather then a classical fantasy influence. they will have the big swords. d&d is sort of in the middle so you are unlikely to find any minis that have really big swords. you could get lucky though.

I'd probably get some bits from Games Workshop if you can. They like the over-the-top stuff you could probably find a good sword from an Eldar Avatar or something if you want stupid huge weapons. :)

You'd need to hide the woodgrain, but as I said, a Popsicle stick works well for thickness on a girderblade

Search reaper models for "stern"
