Fun idea - Potion of invincibility

Everyone knows if a hero runs into enemies while invincible, the enemies just turn upside down and fall off the bottom of the world.

Maybe it's the last few drops of a dead gods blood. It maybe has 4 or 5 doses. Unfortunately when you take the lid off or use it, it's a beacon of awesome power drawing much unwanted attention, especially from a Lich who has spent his immortality searching for it, as he knows how to make the effect permanent!

I figured there would be a mystery unidentified ingredient that would prevent them from recreating it. I like the ultra rare blossoms once a year ingredient though! lol

So the real question is, how do I go about getting my party one of these legendary potions.

I can see the lucky player drinking it during a tough battle instead of keeping it for a super fun use like the looting a red dragon's lair option or challenging Orcus to a fist fight! lol

Why just one mystery ingredient when it could be x-items that all must be collected and then brewed together in a set manner/order before said cauldron relinquishes x-doses of your brand new Potion of Invincibility... I originally misread Invincibility as Invisibility as I was needing a caffeine fix

Specific scales/horns/body components from x-monster
Blood taken from a monster
Moss grown in certain conditions

With some imagination/inspiration a DM can come up with many unique homebrew items... like in one campaign we were asked to rescue important individual Z but as a little side-quest a local tailor and seamstress daughter asked us to see if we could find the go-between NPC for the late spider-silk delivery they were expecting. Along the way we found the go-between guys corpse along with journal entries and the spells he used to harvest said spider-silk secretively before we found Important Individual Z about to be sacrificed by the unknown drow enclave.

After we returned as part of the reward by the tailor we each a set of garment made from spider-silk to be worn under our armor which added I think a +1 or 2 to our AC

@77IM That is logical and if the players complain merely state that each vial of potion contains a different amount of the single brewed cauldron that by itself is a concentrated form.... can potions be made into a powder form?

Drinking a vial of the concentrated potion could have the unforeseen side-effect of turning the player in to a flesh statue... still alive they just can't move.

Easy. The special ingredient is the liver of a monster that has natural invincibility, such as the near-mythical Imperishable Rhinotaur.

How you extract the liver from an invincible monster, is a problem for the players.

That's awesome. I love the idea of a potion of invincibility.

I think I'll have a variation that works for 1d4 rounds (DM rolls in secret) though, after which you're helpless for the same duration. Makes the use more dramatic.

Drinking this potion gives you 2d4 or 1d4+1 minutes of complete immunity to all damage and all mental conditions like charmed, frightened, etc...

I know it's WAY OP but think of the RP potential. You can walk right in an Ancient red dragon's lair and ignore him as you steal some of his loot, or walk right up to him and punk him :D

I think I'm going to use this the next time I DM. The problem is figuring out how to have somebody in the group acquire such a thing. Of course it would be a one time thing never to be seen again. I think it would be a lot of fun to see what somebody comes up with. Just try not to get restrained lol
"All hahhahah mr. Cturbo." laughed the dragon. " I secretly replaced you potion with mostly water. Now watch the full fury as I destroy you, your party, and your little dog too!" In under 2 minutes.
