[FUN] Silly Character Concepts

One thing I tried once with HERO was dumping all of 250 points into FTL.

That's... fast... I don't think there is a common name for that number. ;)

These guys were actually statted out once using whatever version of Champions --the big hardcover-- was out in 1992...

Kid Bazooka: a square-jawed, all-alternate-American hero from a world where the French headed the Axis powers and won WWII. He fought with a mystical bazooka that fired tiny pteradactyals which would encircle his target and peck them to death [HERO system, I love you: 10d6 Persistant, Sticky EB with an OAF]. The bazooka was centuries old, forged by an Aztec god, orignally in the shape of an obsidian-tipped spear.

Dien Bien Phooey --Vietnam's Super Guy: A freedom-fighting martial artist from America's long-time ally, United Vietnam. Also had the power of artificial black hole generation, usable only on French nationals, or Francophiles.

Poison-Spitting Rebecca --aka, Rebecca of Poissonbrook Farms: mutant-child genius weaponsmith and all-around little cutey. Could spit a disabbling venom 20 meters, and carried shrapnel-filled explosive stuffed animals.

Captain Sticky: a super-strong, adhesive mutant barnacle. A real stand-up [stick-to?] guy.

Together they were the Kid Bazooka America [KBA] team, who battled the likes of The Girlfriend, Bat-Pope and the Boy Bishop, and the nefarious Dr. Ishmael Hiv.

I designed a champions character once called Mr Funk. He was a 70's style disco dude with a magic wig similar to the mask in The Mask (it was shortly after the film came out).

He was a very sick character in champions (using the power framework that lets you pick you powers spontaneously), and fun to play. They guy who ended up playing him played him with exactly the right attitude (even bringing in his own afro wig for the sessions). I dread to think how a real powergamer could have abused that character.

Cheerio,

Ben

A friend once suggested hiding a Batcave-style secret base under a sperm bank. Cuts down on the unwanted visitors.

Slightly related, who's going to Pixar's The Incredibles later this year?

I heard perhaps the most outrageous concepts from one of my group tonight. He suggested playing a Shapeshifter who could reproduce anyone (a la Mystique) but to only 1/10th the scale! A sort of shapeshifting mini Me :D

Odd coincidence, since I managed to get my normalman graphic novel out of deep storage (folks are getting ready to move out-of-state, so a lot of stuff from my wasted youth got unearthed from the garage). Now there's a source of silly and/or useless characters if there ever was one.

Actually...I think Man-Man was actually useful, a rarity on planet Levram...

I thought it was a silly concept when I came up with it, but it worked out pretty well in play:)

Boogeyman

Teleportation (Flawed to "only when in a closet/Under a bed")
Mind Control (Flawed to "Fear" only, with Triggered "Paralyzation" extra)
Natural weapon (Claws & Fangs)

Except for the name, this sounds like a character I played in GURPS and MUSH campaigns years ago. His name was Night Wolf, a indian medicine man who was also a feral. The concept was that he was Wolverine and Dr Strange combined. Thee was his powers;

Teleportation through areas of shadow
Mind Control to only induce fear
Hyper speed and senses

The mighty...Explosive Man!

He's basically an MnM character with Alternate Form [Explosive], Triggered: Whenever he activates another of his powers, and Uncontrollable. Explosive Teleportation, anyone? Or better yet...Explosive Boost? Explosive Healing? (All of which he had...)

"Here, Timmy, I'll fix your leg."
*Heals*
*KABOOM!*
"Well, at least Timmy's leg is better. Unfortunately, Timmy's leg is now in Alaska, and I'm not sure what happened to the rest of him. Ah well. Easy come, easy go."
