Fun to play Characters

Funnest and funniest character ever, Sonovah, my 6th level kobold warmage, very smart, with an egomaniacal personality, and completely foolish.

I like to play brutish "Defenders."

My favorite was probably a druid/warshaper that worshipped the storm lord. Mostly for his insane chaotic and reckless fighting style. I especially liked the part where he jumped onto a dragon's back and tried to tear into him with his claws... unfortunately, he didn't manage to hang on... :heh:

Another was the classis barbarian, a stupid half-orc, that liked to fight unarmed and was very narcissistic. He died when his body got switched for the of an ogre. He just couldn't cope with the saddening transformation.

My favortie Leader was a leric that sought to bring salvation to Ravenloft. He ended up being dragged by a couple of witches, and the women that was bearing his child sacrificed herself in a futile attempt to save him... very moving.

Another favorite leader that I made, but never really played, was Kolshadai - a level 100 bard/prosletyzer, with enough personal power and charisma to sway entire cities... and an unassuming aide called (essentially) Nobody. He basically served the role of a prophet, coming onto new planes and countries and preaching the word of the new god. It was a fun creative excercise. I'm gonna play him, even if at lower lever, some day.

John Amon, noir detective: Urban Ranger 2/Fighter 1... Writing in a noir style for this ONGOING Age of Worms campaign makes him special; Gosh, I love Raymond Chandler! Plus, I have a toothpick in my mouth at all times as a player RPing aid. (Anyone see Hot Fuzz? Amon was that guy before the movie came out.)

Johnny Urg: bard/barbarian/frenzied berzerker: Oh, sweet jebus, how much fun it is to play an CN orc punk bard! Character is motivated almost entirely on what would be the most fun thing to do. He eats the brains of the BBEGs to gain their powers. He tried to help a LG character in a crisis of faith through the tropes of the fairy tale. (Literally, he stage-managed a series of people to go help out and be helped out by the LG character in crisis.) He hits on every female NPC they save. He's punched two gods and made out with a demi-goddess. As a frenzied berzerker, he's died a bunch of times, meaning I get the fun of reincarnation, 3e style. (The CN Raise Dead!)

A LN drow Rogue/Sorcerer patterned on a cross between John Stuart Mill, Clint Eastwood, and Winston Churchill. Basically, his strongest skill was his maxed out Diplomacy score. Despite the drawbacks that he couldn't lie or break a deal, he was a decent assassin.

My gnome fighter / rogue, Rinzari of the Moot, was easily the most fun to play. Rinzari had a mount - a riding dog named Whiskers that actually lasted longer than Rinzari did, and until he lost most of his hand in the Demon Wars, he was the most optimistic adventurer you ever met.

DM: You hear movement behind the door.

PC1: Aw crap, I bet it's another one of those wights!

PC2: Or worse, what if it's a vampire or something?

PC3: Whatever it is, I don't want to know...

Rinzari: What if it's a baby unicorn?

Oooh…
Too many to name.

Some of the most memorable for me?

Lady Jasmine of the White Rose: Lawful Good Fighter of Elhonna. Eternally optimistic, she had a notoriously bad habit of continously falling for the wrong man, but never learned from her mistakes. (She had a 7 Wisdom.)

Siberys, the Dragon-Wrought Kobold Ninja; now with Dragon Wings! What's not to love about this? (He's my current character in our "Age of Worms" campaign.)

Elritch Ivy. Failed Warforged druid (the local Druidic sect wouldn't accept her), who turned to sorcery. She's curiously unoptimzied, but awfully fun to play!! She's curious about humans to the point of dressing like them! She's curiusly "Data-like" (from Star Trek: TNG.) Character-wise, she's maxed out on HP, including an impressive Con. Bonus. And, given her background, I gave her some "Nature-Based", cross-class skills, and took the "Adamantite Body" feat which makes her a tank-y mage, as well as the "Improved Familiar' feat.... Of course, her magic doesn't always work…. [35% spell failure chance].)
This one isn't a character I would play in just any group, but she works well in our group. :)

Eranilor Nailo - Elven ranger/rogue/deepwood sniper. I played him in a RttToEE campaign, and he's the only character I've played whom I explicitly set out to model on my own character and personality. Maybe because that's such a change for me, he turned out to be a delight to run. He was a retired literature teacher turned bounty hunter, had an idiosyncratic and iron-clad moral code that he'd formulated, was intensely cynical and completely optimistic at the same time, was completely unflappable, would eat anything that moved, read plays and poetry to relax after a hard day killing things, and saw the humor in just about everything. Eranilor was the only PC in the group who went through the entire RttToEE without being killed, remaining thoroughly unconvinced all the way until close to the end that the PCs were involved in anything world-shaking. Quote: "What do you think this is? Some kind of an adventure story?"

Kane - Warforged Bbn/Cleric of Fharlanghn. Currently being played in a Savage Tide AP campaign (PbP), though it's not an Eberron game. He's an amnesiac, who was found by another PC floating on a piece of wreckage from an unidentified ship, and has been trying to work out who/what he is ever since. Thus far, what he's discovered is that he was probably constructed many centuries, if not millennia, ago and that he somehow has an affinity to the god Fharlanghn, whom he's taken to worshipping. Getting to play out his gradual development and growing understanding of other creatures and himself has been great fun (he just learned what fear means when he ran into a rust monster :)).

Kylian Davandi - Gnome beguiler. Currently being played in a Shackled City AP campaign (PbP). Incredibly smart and completely amoral little so-and-so. The only reason he's not actually evil is that it takes too much hard work and people tend to try and kill you. He functions as the brains of the party and is at his best in a fight shouting tactical orders to others while simultaneously boosting their abilities and weakening others. Constantly manipulates NPCs with a combination of diplomacy and utter bull.

Cedric Marne - Human rogue/duskblade/crusader. Currently being played in a homebrew campaign run by Rolzup from ENWorld. See my sig for the world's worst paladin. It's much the same concept, with some cosmetic differences (and he hasn't actually got levels in the paladin class).

Meiji Kitsume - Human shugenja (modified). Currently being played in Mallus' incredibly idiosyncratic CITY campaign. He's a duplicitous, lying, cheating, whoring, cowardly SOB. 'Nuff said.
