Fun with D&D in Retail Sales!

MortalPlague

Adventurer
Hey folks! I work in retail, which (as many of you no doubt know) is slow and fairly dull through January. Well, today I went in for a five hour shift, and I decided to try something fun to liven up the day. I decided to insert D&D terms into customer interactions, and see how many I could get away with.

Here's what I managed to use:

difficult terrain - twice
fortitude
shift
- twice
initiative - twice
encounter
transmute
reagents
thieves' tools
- yes, really!
doppleganger - not kidding!
damage
arcane
marketplace
divine
attack
Come And Get It
- three times
track
charm
durability
- twice
dragon
aquatic creatures
masterwork
proficiency
skill focus
- twice
draconic
Time Stop
skill ranks
constitution
THAC0
- customer didn't blink
Clairvoyance
strength
sneak attack
Bag of Holding

So here's a challenge to my fellow salespeople... How many can you get?

That's genius.

In a sick demented bored-out-of-my-mind way. But still genius. :)

What sort of retail do you work in where you can throw around terms like THAC0 ??

You know how much I loath salesmen who try to add "catch phrases" psuedo jargon, and thieve chant when making a pitch? As soon as I used my detect magic to identify their glamour I usually roll sense motive for hidden innuendo then search out their party leader.

No way would I allow a rogue minion to obtain xp for every gp they earn from my sale.

I'd like to hear the context for some of those...
Any ones in particular? :)

I work in an electronics department. We sell everything from microwaves to cameras, cell phones to ipods, and all sorts of other stuff.

THAC0 was hard to actually work into a conversation, since it's not actually a word. But while processing a return, I said "I'll just THAC0 your debit card here...", and the customer didn't even blink.

Yeah, that one was a bit of a cheat. But since THAC0's not a word, I couldn't really use it in any meaningful context. :p
