So I noticed that the 5e Warlock has unseen servant as a possible spell known. Since warlock spells recover with a short rest, this means a warlock could have a near permanent unseen servant to do his bidding, both in and out of combat. So, what can you do with everyone's favorite invisible butler?
In combat he could hold up sheets (that he hasn't folded yet) to block line of sight. He could wear said sheet and pretend to be a ghost. He could hold weapons and point them at your enemies to intimidate them or cause them to think you have invisible allies. He could get in the way of your enemies, hindering them or preventing them from flanking you. He could carry barrels of fine dwarven ale and place them in strategic locations to block off the enemies movement.
Out of combat he could carry mirrors to peak around corners. He can open doors or other potentially trapped objects. He can carry your torch (poor humans with no darkvision). He can carry your adventuring gear and all of your well earned loot. While you rest he can do your laundry, clean your room, make your dinner, and serve you tea. He can pretend to be a ghost just to scare the common people. He is also a great listener when you need to complain about the rest of the party.
The possibilities are endless! What are your favorite uses for an unseen servant?
