[Future] Netrunning

I got d20 Future and liked it a lot (made me start liking d20 Modern, actually), but there was something big missing: rules for the Net/Matrix/Wired/etc.

I imagine OGL Cybernet has some rules for this. If so, how are they? How compatible with d20Modern/Future are they?

Thanks.

Yup, OGL Cybernet has rules for this.

I thought they were actually pretty clever. They actually pretty much work like regular d20 Modern computer hacking, but fully fleshed out. It mostly uses the Computer Use skill for basic tasks, but then if you want to fight against ICE and such, you use the d20 combat rules - the ICE is statted up like monsters/characters. And the cyberdeck lets you contruct the your guy in the 'net with special powers and such.

OGL Cybernet is essentially just d20 Modern tweaked for Cyberpunk, so it's highly compatible. There are a few differences, but not many (mostly in the base character classes)

I wouldn't pay $40 for it, but I got it for $20 used, and at that price, it's quite nice.

IIRC there was a VR/Netrunning chapter cut from d20 Future (written by Moridin), it is supposed to be appearing as web enhancement sometime.

Yes, there's a section on cyberspace called the VRNet that is on the way, theoretically. I was told it was going to be a free web enhancement, and they even made sure and updated my bio for the site, so it's on the way. When....I dunno.

Sounds cool, but I see one problem. If it released as a web enhancement, will it be also released under the MSRD? If not, then it is pretty useless to me as a writer (though as a player I'll still take a look at it).
I wonder if there is a way to find out for sure. Otherwise, I would start making one right now to release as OGC.
Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Email Andrew.Smith at Wizards.com and ask.
At the moment none of the web enhancements are Open, however they may still give you permission to use the rules. First though they need to get it online so you can see if you want to use it.

I been looking at modern hacking rules, focusing more on the social engineer side than the Hollywood OS style. Hasn't gone any futher than notes on the back of a napkin stage.

I'll check with Andy. It would be a shame if they do not SRD that material; it will only breed countless iterations from different publishers, with none becoming the standard.
