Futuristic Armor & Materials compared to Medieval

I'm trying to mix Futuristic materials with Medieval materials for armor. Fantasy world with Star Wars storm/clone troopers arrive.

How different are storm trooper armors? If the players grabbed Trooper armor after a fight, and I wanted to use the Medieval armors in a given rule set as a benchmark, what would the comparison be like?

I think that the armour and magic rules, including special materials, provides a fairly good way to simulate modern armour up to full powered armour. I did some fiddling around with the idea here, although a quick re-read suggests that it may need a bit of re-working.

Mithral could be used to represent advance composite materials, Adamantine advance alloy materials. Energy Resistance, Fortification, Invulnerability can all be added to increase the effectiveness of the armour. Magic items can be used to add to the functionality of the armour - Gloves/Belts of strength can be used to simulate powered armour, googles of the night (night-vision), etc.

Once bonus to this method is it gives you a good handle on the relative value of the armour. If you see the PC's getting their hand on it and want to maintain some sort of level appropriate wealth, you could reveal the abilities of the armour as the characters level (as they work out how to use it, activate things etc).

Of course, the other alternative is raid d20 Modern or Future.
