G.I. Joe Retaliation delayed until spring to add 3D.

You obviously haven't read them if you think they are vampire porn. Laurel K Hamilton has the Vampire Porn and they are better books.

Oh, I know that they aren't actually porn. But they do fill the same sort of niche. It's like introductory vampire porn, at least based on the films. Like Nicholas Sparks meets Bram Stoker in a dark alley, but Sparks then beats the venerable Victorian over the head with the stupid stick. He kidnaps Stoker, brings him to a dark basement and chains him up with a typewriter, a skeleton outline of every Sparks novel ever published, and instructions to substitute in vampires for soldiers and leave the vapid female lead alone.

Empty suit actors? Check. Implausible situations that lead to hungry looks of lust? Check. Somewhat abusive relationships not founded at all in love and honesty? Check. Translating Twilight to real pornography doesn't take any rewriting of the story at all, just an injection of graphic sex acts. It's emotional pornography.

EDIT - but that's all a topic for a different thread, and probably beaten to undeath multiple times over.

GI Joe vs The Host is a losing gamble for Paramount.

Maybe... just maybe they know its not good so they are placing it in the best possible spot for a loss? See if it flops during the this summer and Avengers is still raking in money then it looks very bad. However, if it died because all the teenage girls wanted their bfs to take them to see a movie which is essentially a metaphore for hormone induced teenage angst and alienation, then it doesn't look as bad.

Also... Twilight is vampire porn not in the pornographic sense it exists to "create or satisfy an excessive desire for something." Which in the case of Twilight is teenage romance angst and vampires.

The first GI Joe film was visual trash, IMO. Oh...it made decent money, but it was still visual trash and design to lure younger folks in getting their toys.

The previews of the second sequel was much better and was more to the true concept of what the Joes do in furnctionally and appearance.

Going to 3D, raising the tickets prices for one.

Twilight was for the younger folks and there I will leave it.

But back to the push back, it may or may not cost them a window to justify the delay and the added cost.

None the less, a bone headed move in this market. INvestors will be looking for answers very soon.

Yeah, if they had a $200M budget and now having to sit on the movie for 9 months, that investment is generating 0 return, I'm thinking that they'll be some explaining to be done to the Board for that one. Plus they have a bunch of marketing costs likely spent to date (I remember seeing a bunch of YouTube ads a few weeks back).

Ugh, and I hate 3d, so I'll be avoiding it. I guess I'll have Expendables 2 for my stupid, mindless action movie this summer. They're nice every now and then :D

Add 3D? Had they not heard of this amazing newfangled technology when they started making the movie? lol

Never saw the first one because I do my best to avoid crap, so I'm not so disappointed about this. I'm still quite sad I went to the theatre to see the first Transformers and haven't wasted money on a Hasbro movie since.

And adding 3D just makes it worse, not better. A movie is made for 3D (Avatar, Beowolf) or it's not and shouldn't have it.

I think they are going to redo more of the film. No one cancels a 200 million dollar movie a month before it comes out just to add 3D. I think it was a really bad movie and they are hoping that they can improve so it doesn't bomb. It does disappoint me because I was actually looking forward to this one.

Agreed - 3D, in its latest incarnation, has been around for several years now. Most "big event" movies plan out having 3D in it already, since you can soak the moviegoer out of a few extra bucks per ticket with it.

I think they're going to rework some of the plot and re-shoot some scenes over the next year to try and turn a 1 star movie into a 2 star one.

And, my standards are generally pretty low in regards to summer action movies, and the first GI Joe failed to meet those low standards.

mmmmm....let look at the stuido for this year. I think something is going on there, they only have been putting out 10 to 12 movies a year and have only hit 4 so far, one being 3D Titantic, no other 3D movies?
