Just curious, can my PC gamble with another PC and gain gold? I’m building a character who is a part of the Harpers faction and is an undercover agent for them. while he’s waiting around he play gambling games and cheats at them. So I want to know if my character can gain gold by playing with other PCs or not.

Yes, you can.

your DM could make the game rules(and how to bend/break them).

But,

This falls into(or could go into) PvP.

And many groups do not allow PvP actions.
And in many settings getting cheated on in cards/games leads very quickly to dagger/hammer/fireball to the face.

Well how I meant for cheating is my character has 3 glass dice that are just normal except one being a charlatan die. So they all look like normal dice. Then the deck of cards he has his familiar look at the other players cards while playing poker. He will lose some of his games to make it seem like he plays fair.

I think in AL you can play other players at the table and not have it be considered downtime. Playing NPCs and such can never gain more money than the hourly amount the DM gives everyone. Not the best system, but works for most things.

I hate to contradict others in this thread, but AL rules specifically state that you can't transfer gold between player characters. The only exception is pitching in to raise someone from the dead.
