Game book pricing

Assuming you wanted/needed it for your game, is $12 a reasonable price for a 128-page D&D book? Is it low, too high?

How about $4.50 for a 16-page D&D adventure module (printed)?

Absolutely. That's about right in my opinion. Typically, you'll see them ask $14.95 or $16.95 for 128 pages. By the time you get up to $19.95, I'm getting really skeptical. But $12 is reasonable enough that I don't feel like I have to need the whole book in order to make it worthwhile.

That's too high. Frankly, the ammount of work in a 16 page D&D module represents (sans art) less than what I could crank out on a weekly basis, and considering that I feel you need to spend several hours converting and elaborating on most published modules the few hours I save isn't worth it for me. I mean, I DM for fun. Maybe once I've got kids I'll feel differently about the time, but more importantly, Dungeon Magazine represents a much much better investment. For about the same price you'd get 4-5 modules of that length, and the quality is often really really high because they are getting ideas from across the entire fanbase.

The going price for 128 page books these days seems to be $22 or so. (Book prices go up about $2 every 2 years seemingly)

A 16 page module is a bit of an aberrrration. I think Goodman Games put out one of the Dungeon Crawl classics that size, but at a special price ($2?). That's the only 16 page module I can think of. But then those little mini adventures from AEG/FFG were basically 8 pages. Those were $3-4.
