I was a subscriber in middle and high school. End of an era.

I prbably last subscribed about 10 years ago. it was a great magazine. But, frankly, getting video game news became a much more immediate thing and the monthly magazine deliver system was no working. I still visit the website regularly though.

ETA: It looks liek they are shutting down the website, too.

I still had an active subscription as we have like 4 consoles and the kids have gaming laptops…

It went a bit sour for me because I liked print copy and they moved to digital. Hated that interface…then it seems hard to access? After that.

But I had a subscription and read their reviews for years! I liked their reviews more than most. This is sad…

I was buddies with one of the article writers for GI. He left the company 5 or so years ago for another line in the game industry. I think this was a long time coming.

I “trusted” their reviews for years. If they did not get 8.5 in GI, it was a generally a waste for me even if other outlets differed.

I knew something was up when it got harder to get print copies and the base benefit from a membership at GameStop was a (for me) clunky digital offering instead. I actually stopped reading when them as much due to that hassle (wonky on phone which is my main reading device) aside from print.

Disappointing…
