Game of Thrones rpg? Midnight campaign setting?

There are all kinds of classes and rules that have great potential, imo.

Yes. You certainly have examples of cleric (the septons, the followers of the fire god); fighter (too many to name); barbarian (the Dothraki; the wildlings); wizards (blue-lipped Quarthi mages; maybe the maesters; the pyromancers that served the Targayens); rangers (the nightwatch); rogues (too many to name but start with Tyrion); assassins (Sorrowful Ones; maybe some Unsullied); and druids (priests of the Old Gods; wargs).

Is there any class that can't be accounted for?

I would see the primary difference being that most characters would not have access to magic. Being a spell caster would require specific membership in the few organizations that had a knowledge of magic.

I guess I could see it working as a low magic campaign.

I can also see some "Birthright" type rules integrated here too for those that want to empire build

- I'm just spoiled with my d20 addiction - hundreds of spells and monsters I'll never use. I am finding myself building a hopelessly implausible homebrew trying to add in all the cool 3rd party stuff I am finding.

I emailed with Jeff Barber, author of Midnight (as well as primary author/visionary/designer for the Biohazard Games/FFG rpg _Blue Planet_), and the books sounds pretty cool. It's not a WotC setting search leftover, FWIW.

Yes. I'm very interested in campaign settings. But it seems like all the settings out right now basically rycle the same Forgotten Realms memes. I'd be very happy to see something without all of the familiar races, classes and so on. And something with less prevelent magic.

Talking to the guys at FFG, Midnight sounds like everything 3rd ed Ravenloft should have been...

No offense Steve but I kind of like the way 3rd edition Ravenloft is turning out.

Anything in particular? *is just curious* I know the new "heroes and anti-heroes book" for me wasn't as good as advertised.

Midnight is in production and will be released in March. The setting material is being developed by Jeff Barber, the creator of Blue Planet, and Wil Upchurch is doing the new rules and mechanics development. We'll have more information on Midnight, as well as content and art previews, as we get closer to the release date. There will also be a sizable preview of the setting in the January issue of Game Trade Magazine.

BTW, I do check EN World every day, though I lurk far more often than I post. Nevertheless, I'm here.
