Alright - every few months or so, someone asks about game shops in an area they are going to visit, and helpful people chime in with suggestions. Whenever I see that, I think to myself: "Self, why don't you create an online searchable database of game shops that anyone can access?" I reply to myself, "Self, that's a great idea, but you don't have the web hosting space or the coding chops to accomplish such a thing."
Well, I'm giving in. I'm starting this post in the hopes that you will contribute your favorite shops, and I will compile that information into the geographic locations in following posts. Here's what I'd like to see in your submissions:
- Name of Store
- Address
- Phone #
- Website (if any)
- Hours (if you actually know them for certain)
- Proprietor's Name(s) (if known)
- Product carried: Gaming/Miniatures/Comics/Science fiction&fantasy books (important, because not all places carry all these products.)
- ... and a line or two (no more) of why you like the shop, what makes it unique, etc.
I promise to collate your info and paste it into the posts below. I'm going to create master posts for the following geographic areas to start:
- New England (ME, NH, VT, MA, CT, RI)
- Tri-State (NY, NJ, PA)
- Mid-Atlantic (MD, VA, WV, DC)
- South (NC, SC, GA, FL, MS, AL, KY, TN)
- Northwest Territories (OH, MI, IN, IL, WI)
- Northern Midwest (MN, ND, SD, IA, MO, NE)
- Southern Midwest (TX, AR, OK, KS, LA)
- West (ID, MT, UT, CO, NM, AZ, WY, NV)
- Pacific (AK, HI, CA, WA, OR)
- Canada East (ON, QC, NB, NS, PEI)
- Canada West (BC, AB, SK, MB, NW Terr)
- United Kingdom
- Europe, Continental
- Other
As the thread grows, I'll impose upon Piratecat to weed posts after I add them to the master lists. Perhaps, someday, someone with actual asp skills can hop in an' do a nice, purty database, but for now, I hope this proves to be a useful resource.
This all counts on you. Thanks for your input, and happy gaming!
