I don't know of any game stores in the loop. You can get CCG's and some minis at Graham Crackers Comics' loop location (see http://www.grahamcrackers.com/chstore.htm ).

A new Chicago game store that just opened (literally last week) is Black Sun Games, at 5426 N Kedzie. Not in the loop but at least in the city. They can be reached at 773-588-1065.

And of course there's Games Plus. It's in Mount Prospect but it's a great game store. http://www.games-plus.com/

Thanks for the info Joseph! I don't have a car and so a visit to Games Plus is out, but I will definitely try to get over to Black Sun soon.
Might not be practical but isn't Games plus at least accessible by mass transit (I'm sure someone with better knowledge will chip in here). I note this because I've been in a similar situation being in Chi-town without a car and considered this, but never tried. It did seem possible though.

Games Plus is a great game store, worth the trek IMO.

Games Plus is five hundred feet from the Mount Prospect train station. On weekends, get the weekend pass which allows unlimited Metra travel for just $5.00 (make sure to hang onto your ticket).

Black Sun Games can be reached by riding the Brown line to the end, taking the Kimball bus (#82) north to Balmoral (a couple blocks north of Foster) then walking east a four blocks over to Kedzie.

Drop me a line when you plan to visit. :)

I havent been there in about a year, but I thought there was a game store in WaterTower place.

Gamers Paradise, at one point a 14-store chain in the Chicago area... now out of business, unfortunately. Some of their stores were still having liquidation sales as of a couple months ago, but I believe they're all gone now.

Gamers Paradise has gone out of business as of today, I believe. Their thirteen store chain cut back to three, including the one in Water Tower, in preparation for this day and they've been selling off stock at close out prices for the last month or so.

That Stinks, that Gamers Paradise is closing. It was always a highlight of my trips to downtown Chicago. Not so much my wifes though.
