This weekend is the last weekend of Texas RenFest, pretty much the last fair of the season for anybody....
I've had an idea for several years, that a group of people could play some kind of RPG at RenFair. Utilizing all the costumed people there, but not actually cluing them into what your doing.
But I never quite found a way to do it that I liked and would appeal to enough friends to play it.
The basic idea is that you and your friends will be dressed up and playing the Game. The Game would involve interacting with each other and with Rennies, cast and possibly even the Muggles (the people who didn't dress up).
You probably can't do LARRP combat, or even mechanical interactions with non-Players (dice roll attacks vs. a Rennie would mean explaining the the game rules).
I thought of making a randomized scavenger hunt (tables of words to comine into a list of things to find, like the Burning Dragon). Thus, the goal is to find things on the list, and you might ask other people if they've seen what you're looking for.
I'm curious to see what other ideas for gaming to take advantage of the huge setting a RenFair presents.
