Game worthy Crpg Worlds

I've been playing Mass Effect lately, and I'm really impressed with how suitable the world is for RPG play. It is perhaps no big surprise that a well designed Crpg world would translate well to a PnP RPG but it doesn't automatically follow. A lot of J-rpgs in particular are set up so the the main character the the Hero of Destiny and there isn't a lot of room left in the world for other people to do much of anything. Or the just don't have a set-up that encourages party style adventures. For example I love the Disgaea games but I have no idea how you could possibly turn them into a tabletop game.

What other Computer or Console RPGs leave you thinking of cool it would be to run a game in those worlds?

Final Fantasy. Several have a nifty fantasy/scifi feel I find interesting, but the actual game annoys me (I hate having to start the whole game over because I saved at the wrong part and now cannot grind to level up to beat the boss I can't beat at my level, and the game did nothing to warn me.)

The Elder Scrolls series would make an interesting tabletop as well.

The worlds of Azeroth (Wacraft) and Sanctuary (Diablo) would make great settings.

I also love the world of the Elder Scrolls games.

On the consoles, Suikoden has a great setting with several continents chock full of political intrigue.

The implied setting of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus shows some promise too (though it would need to be fleshed out further first).

Ah, but which one?! My personal favorite would be FFII, not the one with Cecil, Kain and Rosa, but the original FFII for the NES. Okay, the game had a very kooky leveling system where it actually encouraged you to attack yourself in combat, but the story makes it very interesting to me.

Aside from the Final Fantasies, and technically not a console RPG (it was originally a PC game, IIRC) I'd kind of like to play in an Ultima game.

I still want to testplay the Warcraft RPG.

Myth. As a computer game setting, it has a very low Medieval-ish backdrop with larger than life villains reminiscent of the Black Company's adversaries. It's rife with undead, big damn armies, and opportunities for heroes to save the world (or damn it). It's good stuff. And there is, perhaps unsurprisingly, already a GURPS sourcebook for it.

The Suikoden series' setting would certainly be a great place for a tabletop RPG. It has numerous well-developed nations that are filled with both conflict and interesting cultures, and leaves a lot of room for new stories and possibilities. What is more, beyond the setting of the main games themselves is the cosmology of the series: the "Infinity" of alternate worlds.

The cosmology and themes of the Megami Tensei series would make a fantastic tabletop RPG. This is particularly true for the Persona sub-series.

The Star Ocean universe would be great for a tabletop RPG. Mixing swords and sorcery with spaceships, matter replicators, and teleporters is always fun.

The worlds of the Wild ARMS games differ greatly from each other at times, but the general themes of the series as a whole would make a good tabletop RPG.

Edit: I can't believe I almost forgot to mention the SaGa series. Those games really like having different character perspectives and all kinds of adventuring locales, so it wouldn't be too hard to mix a few of them together to get a good tabletop RPG setting.

I left the FF gate open because I've only seen a few, but each one mixes tech and magic and swords, so I assumed it was a trend.

A Devil May Cry RPG might be interesting, though I'm not sure how one would go about it.

Jade Empire would also be rather interesting(though it's possible that people have already put it into a d20 form).

Also, the .//Hack(sp?) games would be somewhat interesting, since that game would possibly have you playing a character playing an RPG(so, a character playing a character) where you might learn some hacking abilities to warp the gameworld(and risk getting nailed but some horrible fate), or just get extremely good at playing the game. >.> Twitchy, but might be fun to try.
