Gameday Ennui/Laziness/Jitters

Every week, I run a game for my friends. Its on a weeknight, after work. Every week, I work on my game and Im usually pretty enthused about it. But come gameday, I don't feel like playing. I usually ignore it and run the game anyway, and almost everytime, I have fun and Im glad that I ran it.

But sometimes I cancel the game. It doesn't really have much to do with anything in particular. Just laziness I guess. Or it could be tiredness from work. Not really sure.

Anyone else experienced a similar problem?

I too share this syndrome, and I find it has grown worse with age (I'm now in my mid 30's). Part of it is the work that goes on with running the game, not just adventure prep, but cleaning the house, organizing, stuff like that.

I'm also finding that I am putting less and less into prepping for my games, and when I do I am kind of cramming at the last minute. I think part of it is that I'm busy enough with other things that my ideas, plots, etc. don't have time to percolate and simmer in the back of my head the way they once did. I do find that I'm preparing "menus" of events and critters (and traps and treasures) more than I am preparing, say, keyed encounter areas. And I'm also finding that I'd rather find a map that's already made than draw one myself.
