It is? I played AD&D for years and years and I never heard of that term until today.

Seriously? I thought it was in the common vernacular. Perhaps that is something that my group used that I just thought was much more common than it was.

Chalk me up for another one that never used HARD. It's an Ancient Huge Red Dragon after all, according to the books, so, you have to transpose the letters to make it work.

/pedantic mode off.

FWIW, I've been playing for 30 years now, throughout many different states, and I've never heard it before either.

Same here. I mean, we used the term "huge ancient red dragon," but never thought of using the acronym. Maybe because we didn't really encounter them often enough for it to necessitate a shorthand way of referring to them.

COUP - Constructs, Oozes, Undead, and Plants; the monsters types not affected by sneak attacks and other precision damage. Many of these are also mindless, which poses a problem for characters that rely on mind-compulsion and charm effects.

RAI - Rules As Interpreted; what you have a DM for.
