And around then, it seems (I'm old, and my memory is foggy) that TSR began cranking out all of the 2e Complete Books: Fighter, Thief, etc... until more or less you were getting 'The Complete Left-handed Albino Elven Bard/Thief' books.
I would love to see an actual example of such a book published for AD&D. It's one of the more common hyperboles you see on message boards.

Complete Elf? Yup.
Complete Thief? Sure.
Complete Bard? You betcha.
Complete Left-Handed Albino Elven Bard/Thief? Not remotely.

FB: Fatbeard (n) An obnoxious (often overweight but not always; often with a beard but not always) gamer who enjoys rules lawyering and lording their library-esque knowledge as a sword rather than a shield. See also, Comic Book Guy.

OK, I admit. I just like talking about Fatbeards. :)

Not quite as common as the half-dragon/half-demon/drow/lycanthrope/vampire/sorcerer/wizard/rogue/assassin/blackguard/shadowdancer characters trotted out as "proof" of how bad 3.x is.

ToB/Bo9S - Tome of Battle - Book of Nine Swords
SA - Sneak Attack
AOO - Attack of Opportunity
TWF - Two Weapon Fighting (Also applies to derivatives like GTWF [Greater TWF] etc)

Simple, but I've seen the acronyms questioned.

Here's one that I personally dislike, but is often used, especially on the WotC boards:

Gish - slang for a fighter/magic-user multiclass character. Originated because "Gish" was the term that the Githyanki race used to refer to their special-forces type warriors who were combo fighter-mages.

Gish - a fighter/wizard multiclass character

Also, I feel I should point out that I freakin' hate hate HATE this word, for some reason. It sounds stupid as hell, and now I'm even pissed off at myself just for typing it. It originally was specifically a githyanki fighter/m-u combo. Unless you're playing a githyanki, you aren't a gish. It's a dorky word, and you automatically become a big stupid dork if you refer to your character thusly. What, it's too much of a strain to say "fighter/wizard?" Is saying all those syllables taking away from valuable Cheeto-eating time? Do you sound cool and fantasy-worldly to casually drop such a retarded-sounding word? Gaaah!

Seriously, I don't know why it bugs me so much. Anyone I see using it will be put on My List (tm)*. And that does include whatever jokester is about to fancy himself to be a comedian and use it several times in a post just to be "funny". YOU'RE going to the top of My List (tm), pal!

* - Inclusion on My List (tm) subjects the listee to (but not limited by) the following: kidney punches, the hairy eyeball, barely audible snickers and snide commentary, being unfairly subjected to wandering monsters in any game I may run, being unfairly subjected to PC-on-PC violence in any game I may play alongside you, vulgar comments about your sister and/or other female family members, and a handful of d4's jammed where you don't want 'em.

EDIT: Great minds think alike, Henry! You posted that while I was busy typing and stewing in my rage.
