I'm getting ready for an extended trip (about two months) to Auckland, New Zealand, and wondered if there were any games or LGS I might be able to check out while I'm there.
To add to what Lancelot said: In addition to the Vagabond chain and King of Cards (www.kingofcards.co.nz), there is also Heroes 4 Sale (www.heroes4sale.co.nz) located in the city which is mainly a comic shop but has the only other decent collection of RPGs in the city. There's also Urban Games (wargames-miniatures.com/urban-games), although they mainly stock wargames. If you ask the guys behind the counter in any of these places, they should be able to point you in the direction of a gaming club like America. Worst case, as Lancelot said most have messageboards where you might be able to find something.
:)

I could tell you all sorts of horror stories about the demise of Mark One Comics and the founding of Heroes 4 Sale but I won't, because I'm a nice guy. :)

I do remember when Mark needed to be driven to his original store (the tiny little one along Queen Street) by his parents because he couldn't drive yet.

Cheers,
Cam

Holy crap look at all these kiwi's lending a helping hand.

Also what's up with all the wellingtonians here? I though I was like one of the very very few?

Does Gotham have much in the way of RPG's these days however? I remember at one point they had a reasonable selection, but the last time I was there it was more or less just a comic store again.

Not sure. Only time I've been out there was when they were the only place in Auckland with a copy of the Game of Thrones board game in stock. I don't remember there being much RPG stuff at all.

Hello again,

I'm raising this thread a bit (it's been over a week since someone last commented), but I wanted to update a bit and get some feedback. I'm in Auckland now, staying in the Parnell area near New Market.

I found a store on Broadway, but they seemed to focus on Warhammer games. I didn't not see anything d20 related. It was also near or just after 5 PM so they may have been getting ready to close (I'm very much not used to stores closing so early).

Based on the maps, it may be easy enough to head over to AMERICA based on the maps I've glanced at here. I've walked to work a few times (near the Westfield), but I think after I get out of work on Tuesday evening, I may be able to walk over to the campus and find the LCR. At least, I hope so.

My next step is to find a computer store (though I think I located two in the yellow pages in New Market) that can help me get some parts so I can plug my laptop in the electrical outlets here without destroying something. The voltage converter I brought doesn't support three-pronged plugs.

Thanks for all the help, folks.
