Games You Want to Play

Stormbringer
My own game world for D&D is so rooted in the Elric saga that it amazes me to this day that I’ve never actually played a game in that setting. For some reason it’s also one of the few “mainstream” RPGs I don’t have on my bookshelves – even through five or six editions of the game I never picked one up.

As a footnote, since I wrote that article 6 weeks ago, I went out and picked up two different editions of Stormbringer. Still haven't played it, but my BRP collection is approaching completion.

For me, I would like to play:

1. Traveller
2. Herosystem
3. HARP/Rolemaster
4. Alternity/Darkmatter
5. Star Wars (D6)
6. Runequest (Mongoose)
7. WFRP
9. Dark Heresy
10. Sidewinder Reloaded
11. Castles and Crusades

Unfortunately for me, my group is a "D&D only and there is no such thing as other rpgs" group so the only time I get to play something else is at cons and I haven't been in a few years.

Yeah; *I* always pick a random character, but I can't convince my wife to do that. And hey, she's my wife...what can I do? :erm:

(She does the same thing when we play Arkham Horror, although she has two characters she likes.)

I love the Dungeon for exactly this reason. My wife hates it when I do that. (Uh oh, this is starting to degenerate into "Philotomy bitches about his wife's board-gaming quirks...")

I think my wife whined a bit once when her single character draw was "the ugly Troll" but she got over it and played. :)

I'm lucky to have a wife that plays along. Even when she was playing D&D with us and I killed her PCs off just as unmercifully as the others (not PvP, I was DMing to be clear).

I would like to play the new incarnation of Dragon Warriors as I had fond memories of the old, including playing it into the small hours of the morning during High School and doing terrible, terrible things to poor sleeping old men.

A top 10, just among the games currently on my shelf:

1. O(A)D&D - OD&D, 1e, or B/X, or the clones thereof
2. Encounter Critical
3. Tunnels & Trolls
4. Lords of Creation (which I just found a copy of this weekend)
5. Mutant Future/Gamma World 1e or 2e/Metamorphosis Alpha 1e
6. Star Frontiers
7. Marvel Super Heroes RPG
8. Cthulhu Dark Ages/Call of Cthulhu
9. Everway
10. TMNT/After the Bomb

I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

This doesn't count the games that I do not currently own, but would like to get a hold of. Some version or another of Paranoia and Pendragon probably top this list.

Really anything not D&D.

Specifically on my mind I have a couple: Ars Magica, Barbarians of Lamuria, Dogs in the Vineyard, In a Wicked Age, Mouse Guard, Wushu, Feng Shui, Dread, Spirits of the Century, Paranoia, All Flesh Must Be Eaten, some sort of WW2 action game, Traveller.... any of that "Indie narrativist crap" as Doug puts it.

It's a shame we can't figure out a way to capitalize on this thread and get people together to actually play these games they want to play. It almost feels like a waste of virtual breath bothering to list them here... oh well.

Here are some games I would like to play (again):

Deadlands: Hell on Earth. We have a great game that has been on hold for years. The GM lives about 1 hour away. We see him sometimes, but I doubt the game is coming back.

Star Wars Revised. Our all-jedi game was a lot of fun. I wish it would come back since we are in the middle of a module.

Omega World d20. We finished this game after 10 years and 3 rules systems, but it was great fun. I would love to play it again.

Rifts. I know, a guilty pleasure. We played it in the 90s and had a rolicking good time.

Villains and Vigilantes. A blast from the 80s.

Zombies. A great little tile board game. We wore it out a couple of years ago, but I like it so much I bought my own copy.

Any of the "B Movie" card games. I have them all, but we never get together for cards anymore.

Here are some games I would like to play at least once:

Frag Deadlands. I gave it to a friend years ago but he never ran it for us. It looked very fun.

Dark Heresy. I've got the game. It looks great. Maybe a little too dark for my tastes, but I would like to give it a try.

Savage Worlds. A friend says he wants to do a Call of Cthulhu Murder on the Orient Express conversion. I'll believe it when I see it.

Here are some I would like to run:

Savage Worlds Necropolis. I've run it 3x in 2 years. I would really like to finish up that game if I could get enough interest or get the player who gels it to visit more often.

Rifts Machinations of Doom. I really liked the graphic novel, and it included pregenerated charatcers. Alas for a lack of time & interest.

Star Wars of some description. I would like to either do it with the minis game rules somehow turned into an RPG or a simple conversion to Savage Worlds. I want to retell episodes 4-6.

Another Western RPG most likely a Savage Worlds engine with some Deadlands Reloaded running a Boot Hill module in the Aces & Eights setting.

Omega World d20. As mentioned above, I love this game. I would really ike to do something with it using all the d20 minis I have in storage, both D&D & Star Wars. Maybe a sort of Logan's Run with the PCs searching for something outside the dome.

D&D. I've got a 3.0 game on hold mid-module as well an idea to run the story from the Slaine graphic novels.

D&D minis turned into an RPG. I think I can blend the coarse granularity of options for me as a DM with the minis stats with the fine granularity for the players with the RPG rules to make a great game for everyone.

Well, that's really more than enough and likely more than I'll ever do!

I would like to play (the ones in bold I really have an itch for):

- --->> Spirit of the Century <<---
- True20-based fantasy game
- Star Wars Saga Edition
- Prime Time Adventures
- Mutants and Masterminds 2e
- Starblazer Adventures
- Marvel Superheroes (FASERIP)
- d20 Modern
- BECMI D&D
- Traveller
- Feng Shui
- Star Frontiers
- Savage Worlds
- GURPS
