Gaming Hoaxes

My story revolves around the PC's just not thinking things through. They slowly made their way to a castle in the middle of a forest of crystals. these cyrstals would explode if to much noise was made near them, and they also blocked teleportation. So as you can imagine this place had few visitors.

Once inside and after fighting their way through a number of villians and narrowly avoiding death several times they come across an old man weaving cloth on a loom. He offers to sell them magical clothes he'd made at a discounted price as long as they would show him the way out. He told them he was desperate to get out and away from the villians within the castle, and would remain outside waiting for them to return and take him safley through the crystals.

The PC's jumped at the chance and paid handsomely for some choice items. The only one that didn't purchase anything was my wife, and she was miffed that she didn't get anything. So the party continues on and runs into several gaurds on the next level and begining a heated battle. Things began to escalate fast when the villians manage to get initiative and sound the alarm on thier first turn. they can already hear more gaurds jumping up and grabbing weapons in the surrounding rooms.

Next up are our hero's eager to try out thier newly enhanced PC's. That's when the cursed items all triggered. The mage starts screaming as huge rats start swarming out of his new robe biting and tearing. The big NPC female fighter starts to skip and prance around the battle field, dancing up a storm. The male tank suddenly finds that he has undergone a change of religion and is now quite female in the middel of his dual with the gaurd captain. Their looks were classic. And my very miffed wife was not nearly as miffed as she had been.

Good times.

One of my players mentioned a snipe hunt in front of a potential con man NPC last night. When it became obvious the two other players at the table hadn't heard of this ruse before, I ran with it. Even though they were not up for the hunt, they were willing to donate toward the cost of the special snipe hunting gear, provided they were included in the profit from the sale of the captured snipe. The originating player was enjoying it so much he didn't let on, as long as things didn't get beyond a few silver pieces of fleecing. Good fun! :)

Well, there was that Kobold necromancer who made good use of the change self spell. He kept disguising himself as various individuals and hiring the party to do odd jobs for him. He turned into a dwarf and hired the party to avenge his brother by killing Yellow Musk zombies...oh, and bring him the thumbs as proof the deed was done! And then he turned into an elf female and asked the party to kill a peyrton for her that had killed her brother...and bring her its heart to prove you did it!

The funny thing was, the campaign was about the party stopping this necromancer from opening up a portal to the god of vampires' plane and bringing him to the prime. For months they hunted down this guy, doing these little "side quests" as they came along. Not realizing they were actually collecting the spell components needed for the ritual!

Yoink :p
