Gaming W/Jemal: Planar Quest IC (Prologue)

Darrian seems to fold into him self at the moment. Wailiam does continue to answer some questions. "The one who penned the tome was simply the last to wield the POWER with out destroying himself. Who he was other then that has no impact on our current task. Part of the agreement was that the tome would be hidden from him and the gods. When D'Raven hid the clue he crafted the hiding place to need two keys. The first key needed is POWER, this kept it safe from the gods, they can not use it. The second is the power of the divine, which protected it from mortals." William stops, Darrian speaks up.

"When fragments of the POWER start to surface and entities start to search for the book, D'Raven is to use the bloodline to open the second lock. We needed to track down fragments of the POWER for the first lock. I have the divine power needed. Those trophies of power you've gathered are of the POWER. They can be used to learn the first clue when used with my bloodline."

For the last few minutes, something had been Nagging at the back of Mei-Ying's mind, until finally she realized what it was. Her wizened artisan, Pizair, had mentioned his teacher a few times, a master craftsman, a half elf who'd been ancient when Pizair had been young, by the name of Darius Elzmyr.. Perhaps this old elf William was related?

The thought takes second place, though, to what happens next. Once Darrian finishes speaking, several of the trophies that the party had taken during their adventures began to hum slightly. It lasts for a few seconds before dieing down.

William raises an eyebrow "I didn't expect THAT much.."

OOC: Ur's recounting is close to the truth, so far as he has heard, many of the current gods did wrest their power from older gods, but there is some debate as to whether those 'titans' were the original creators, or simply the previous line of 'gods' who usurped their power in the same way.

Also from what the group has learned, they're pretty certain Iridex didn't share his knowledge of the Power with his lieutenants, the Vampire found out on his own, abandoning Iridex when the arch-lich seemed likely to meet his end at your hands, and taking what he had learned with him.
PS just realized I hadn't given the vampires name. It's Michael.

And in case it's not obvious, the objects which hum are the ones you guys chose as your 'power' items.

"I have heard more than one tale of how the world came to be," Mei-Ying says quietly, looking around the opulant chambers. "In the end, it doesn't matter now which is true. What matters is what's happening now."
By his expression Ur mildly disagrees with both statements. "The fate of All should require more care than a trip down to the next village," is all he says on the matter though. Knowing your allies and the legacy you are called upon to enforce, for example.

Once Darrian finishes speaking, several of the trophies that the party had taken during their adventures began to hum slightly. It lasts for a few seconds before dieing down.

William raises an eyebrow "I didn't expect THAT much.."
Ur looks at the polished ring with a crown of three tiny mirror, one of two sitting on the thick fingers of his right hand, as its humming slowly, slowly fades into silence... His stonemason's mind is still un-hurriedly, methodically putting blocks in their proper place though, building the House of the Gods, so to speak. He looks up. "You say the Gods cannot use this ring? Or is it that they swore not to during the Surrendering?" A mighty oath, a geass that bound future Gods as well as those that swore? A rite of initiation into Godhood...

"Forgive me if I seem paranoid myself; but after all, it seems to be in fashion here" Braham says. "There is no way we can confirm or deny your story right now. Whatever else they are, these are among our most valuable items. This is nothing personal Darrian, though you are by your own admission a most skillful thief. I will not lend my amulet out of my possession."

Mei-Ying nods at Ur, apparently seeing no contradiction in his statement and her own.

"He never said the items have to leave our possession," she points out to Braham. "Just that they were needed to find this clue."

She looks at D'Raven. "What precisely is needed from us, then? How do we contribute the 'power' of these objects?"

William clears his throat "D'raven left behind a clue in this compound that could only be unlocked if the Power worked together with the Divine to do it. I've guarded both the clue and the bloodline which contains the required Divine Power. As a point of fact though, Darrian here couldn't use that Power if he wished, because of the Divine power within his blood. Nor could any of the Gods, and not through their doing. The two are incompatible. It was from their first merging that all other magic sprang, chaotically unstable at the beginning and nearly destroying existance.. Or so I've heard." William shrugs slightly and turns to pick up an orange. He turns back and sees Mei-Ying "Oh don't fret, my dear, the amount of celestial blood in you is obviously nowhere near enough to interact with it in a bad way, otherwise you'd be dead, eh?"

He chuckles and bites into the orange, then waves it around at the group

"It's a test, of your will, and Darrian's, and of your ability to complete the task... If the statue finds you worthy, it will give you the first clue. If it doesn't.. well then we're all pretty much hooped, I'd wager!" He looks at Darrian "You WERE going to show them Wade, weren't you?" He takes another bite of the orange and raises an eyebrow at the young man.

Tutek sighs. It was more fun to be thrown into the underworld by the gods themselves than to hear all this banter. And now there was a statue that was going to give them clues. Tutek's capacity to be surprised had been long gone.

"Somebody has been using the Power since the Last Entity," points out Ur. He looks at his mental house. Braham was right: most of the blocks they had so far were hanging in mid-air, with no support from other blocks or the packed earth of reality-as-he-knew-it. To Tutek's great despair, he continues with: "Before we go any further, it would be simpler if you told us your story of All from the beginning instead of just bits and pieces." They could then decide what had impact on their current quest.

Gerard has been following the conversation while sipping his win. His glass now empty, he asks a quick question as he sets the glass down.

"Is the statue of a specific individual? if so who? That might a clue unto itself."

Darrian scowls and looks away. "I was hoping to delay that for as long as possible. That thing creeps me out and that's before," Damian air qoutes here. "My 'paranoia' about its construction kicks in."
