Gamma World Mutated Animal Problem Solved

Well, there are some rules already in the "Core book". D20 Modern has rules for Moreaus, which could easily be mutated animals. In fact, they just scream mutated animals.

Yes, but there are only 5 examples as opposed to 44 in the 4th edition GW rules. This is where I think the new GW failed. I don't think it would have been all the difficult for them to add 10 or so "Moreaus" examples to give us more meat!

Besides, I'm not that keen on Modern D20. I'm going the normal route.

Thanks.

So let me get this straight... you don't like how moreaus work and wouldn't use them... but you are upset that GammaWorld didn't provide more of them?

If they had, you still wouldn't like them or use them.

Er. What?

Due to the lack of many things, I am not that keen (notice I did not say hate) on modern D20. I also did not say that I did not like how moreaus work, I said I was not keen on the modern rules, themselves. I think the idea behind the moreaus are pretty good and if there were more moreaus, that probably would have made using the moreaus rules alittle more desirable and I would have used them in D20 if the nice varity was there, but since it's not, I'm using a different source. That's what makes D20 so great, you can pick and choose what you like and throw back what you did not.

So to answer your question.....nope....your wrong about what I think! I guess your mental powers on reading my mind are not working all too well? :)

Anyway, what do you care what I use or not?

ps: nice troll by the way!

Be aware that the Racial bonuses option won't work for many of the animals from 4th edition. For example, a skunk would have a -6 to all Physical stats...

I'm using DnDChick's Furry stats, (http://members.aol.com/CountryGrrlHere/fauna.html)

There are only mammals listed but it's a good starting point, IMO...

They work well as written, just give them 1 Major or 2 Minor mutations and 1 Minor Negative mutation.

I then give them the option of getting rid of their "human traits": speech, bipedal, and tool use. The mutant animal recieves a free minor mutation for every human trait traded in.

Just some ideas...

Thanks Jason. I'm finding you are very right in this!! I'm brainstorming on what I want to do. Your attachment is nice and helpful as well!

If I was professing to mental powers and/or trolling, I'd be saying something like 'So no matter what they do, you hate them and want the GW folk to burn in hell.'

What I posted was 'what you wrote seems contradictory. I'm confused.'

I don't really care what you use... you could adopt rules from Toon, whatever, so long as you're having fun.

I was a little disappointed that there weren't any real hard and fast rules on creating mutant animals also. What I decided to do (which may change when I get the GW monster and machine book) is go with the Anthropomorphic Animals in Savage Species and then apply mutations to them. Sure, many will have a LA, but since I use racial classes in the style of SS, it's not that big of a deal to me. Has WotC (or anyone else for that matter) put out any rules for creating new Moreau races? Moreaus would work out alright if there were more of them to go around, but that isn't the case and I haven't personally delved into the stats to really get a feel for how they were developed.
