Gary Gygax getting trolled on Facebook

Hello All,

A rather despicable person has created a fake account on Facebook using Gary Gygax's face and name.

The person is posting some rather ugly things in relation to gaming and in general.

If you wouldn't mind, please take a moment to find and report the page using the 'gear' icon on the top right.

"Message/:gear:"

"Report/Block"

Select "Submit a Report"

Select "Report Gary's Account"

Select "This timeline is pretending to be me or someone I know"

Select "Pretending to be a celebrity"

Type in Gary's full name at the prompt, at which point the prompt will highlight the real Gary Gygax in the field.

Click "Submit A Report" and then "Continue".

Facebook is moving glacially slow on this, so any and all help to get this page taken down would be appreciated.

MODS: please move this post to where you feel it's most appropriate, or delete if you find it necessary.

Reported.

Judging from the friends list I think this was supposed to be an inside joke for a rather sophomoric gaming group, not a legitimate attempt at publicly impersonating him. Still wrong, but "stupid thug" level wrong, not "evil villain" level wrong.

Uncool. Report filed.

Mind you, there's a whole bunch of folks on Facebook using the name.

What I don't get is guys have been reporting this joker for over a week now, and the page is still up, with no action by Facebook. That includes a claim filed by Gary's widow, who is looking into legal action. Why hasn't Facebook responded?

Facebook typically doesn't. You'll find abusive pages in the millions if you look. They only act if media (as in not them; they *are* the media these days) makes an impact. We're all handing the internet on a plate to FB, Google, and Twitter.
