Gas Prices in Indy

Back in my day we didn't need yer high classed, high priced, fansy schmancy gas-o-lean. We used water to refuel our thirst as we walked to gencon uphill both ways.

Oh wait, I'm only 23 and I have unfornatally never had the chance to attend Gencon.

I do remember gas prices being a dollar and a half cheaper than they are now when I started driving, and it was nice :)

As a complete aside, many years ago I once bought a car for £50 that came with a full tank of petrol. And at that end of the market, that's an important consideration.

Because a full tank for that car used to cost in excess of £20.

I actually sat in a line to buy gas on Sunday. On my way east from Dayton, I found gas for $2.29 outside Columbus at the Kirkersville exit, when everywhere else was $2.49 to $2.64. It was worth the twenty minute line. I hope it is still that price tomorrow on my way to Indy! (but I doubt it :( )

The flying J station at that exit is generally one of the cheapest in the immediate region, and almost always has lines. It's on a big commuter route into columbus, which is also one of the biggest long-haul trucker routes (I70). Either they keep their prices a bit low trying to attract customers who will buy stuff at the big attached convenience store (which has a much higher profit margin than gasoline), or, rumor has it, they dilute their gas down a bit.

It might not be as cheap as it was sunday, but it will still be one of the cheaper places you can hit on I70 on your way to Indianapolis.
