Gate and equipment..

What would happen if you, say, gated a Solar to your location, and made it drop its weapons and leave? Now, ignoring the fact that the Solar can cast wish as a spell like ability and would more than likely come back to redefine pain for you, would you be able to keep the weapons?

I'd say the only way to make a Solar drop his weapons is to a) slay him or b) cast Dominate Monster on him.

Besides the fact that option a) is almost impossible and option b) is almost impossible (it has SR 32 and Will +20), I'd say don't even think about it, you only thing you will get is the enemity of a bunch of celestial creatures.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the weapons are sized for a Large size creature (and a Reduce spell will not change that).

I would say that it is certainly within the realm of possibility. However, this would fall under the "long-term" contract clause of the Gate spell. Thus if you could convince the Solar that it was worth his while to let you "borrow" his sword for a time, then I guess you could have it. However, unless you are using it to slay an Arch-Devil or Demon Prince, I really don't see how he would agree to it.

There are multiple examples of outsiders that always bear a certain weapon-- Solars with their swords, Balors with their sword/whip combo, dieties with their favored weapons, et cetera. IMC, such weapons are actually formed from the same substance as the creature who bears them.

So IMC, asking a Solar for his weapon is like asking for an organ transplant; it's not out of the question, but it'd better be for a damn good reason. Also, if you kill the Solar, his weapon will dissipate along with his body.

But that's just my world. YMMV.
