The GEAS RPG launches in just a few days on Aug 1st!
GEAS is a heroic fantasy role-playing game, where focus is placed on teamwork and agency for both players AND the Game Master. The point of games is for everyone at the table to have fun, right? GEAS is designed around that principle. The core mechanic is easy to learn, easy to teach, while offering more flexibility and options than many RPGs out there. Sounds ambitious? Sure is! But we believe we've done it, and all playtest groups have agreed!
Dice Pools
One of the core design tenets of GEAS is to keep it simple while offering a lot of flexibility. GEAS uses a dice pool system that eliminates 90% of math during the combat round. We've all been there, waiting for your turn as other players figure out modifiers. In GEAS, the type and number of dice in your pool are based on things like skills, powers, experience, etc. You roll your pool and compare to a target number (for things like skill checks) or the highest result in the opponent's pool. Simply count how many times you beat it. Simple! For additional successes, you aren't limited to extra damage. You can spend them to do cool moves or add additional effects. What's more, you can trade in your pool. Turn 2d6 into 1d8. Why is this awesome? Because it allows you the flexibility in the moment to decide if you want a better chance of one success, or maybe try to go for more successes at the risk of not getting any.
Why a new system?
I've been a designer since the 80s. Years ago I focused on D&D support for several reasons, but have always done in-house system work as well. Over the past couple year, let's just say WoTC has opened the door for a new Indie revival. You don't have to be tied to a corporate brand.
GEAS is a trait-based system; a hybrid of level-based and skill-based. Each profession and specialty offers several cool abilities you can learn as you gain experience, which we feel offers the best marriage of flexibility, customization, and simplicity. Check out the Banneret specialty as an example!
GEAS CRUX is an even more streamlined version of the game, broken down into the core components. Everything fits in a convenient 6x9 single book. But don't be mistaken, CRUX is not an afterthought. Not only is it a dedicated game in its own right, but stands strong. As one playtesters said at Gary Con, "This is the perfect game to get my whole family into the hobby!"
For decades GMs have been asking for a well-designed GM section. We have heard you! The GM section is full of guides, best practices, and in-game examples to help you as a GM craft and run the game. The GM is key to a successful game, so making things as easy as possible for you is our goal!
For example, included are easy to use guides on how to modify your monsters. Using the same monster stat block gets stale after a while, and players begin to predict what monsters can do. So switch it up!
As a thanks for your support, you get free stuff! Backers within the first 48 hours get the Revenge of the Rat King adventure for free! There will also be a backerkit exclusive Profession and Ancestry: The Arc Weaver and Kitsune!
Creative Commons
No OGL debacle with GEAS. Instead we are using the Creative Commons license for the core rules. I started gaming in1981, and one things I firmly have believed the entire time is that without fan creation, the game stagnates. With the GEAS SRD CC, you can create your own material and use them how you want!
Thank you!
Once again, your support means the world. The last crowdfunding project we did, Twilight Fables, was nominated for an ENNIE, and I have to say I think this project is even better! So click the link and support us! It means the world

Below are a series of videos that break the game down, if you're so inclined (or have a lot of extra free time )
