GEAS uses a dice pool system that eliminates 90% of math during the combat round. We've all been there, waiting for your turn as other players figure out modifiers. In GEAS, the type and number of dice in your pool are based on things like skills, powers, experience, etc. You roll your pool and compare to a target number (for things like skill checks) or the highest result in the opponent's pool. Simply count how many times you beat it. Simple! For additional successes, you aren't limited to extra damage. You can spend them to do cool moves or add additional effects. What's more, you can trade in your pool. Turn 2d6 into 1d8. Why is this awesome? Because it allows you the flexibility in the moment to decide if you want a better chance of one success, or maybe try to go for more successes at the risk of not getting any.

Why a new system?

I've been a designer since the 80s.
