Gen Con Europe being moved...

First Post
Hodin, Belgium (ENP) - Gen Con Inc. has announced that the troubled Gen Con Europe convention has been moved to Moscow, Russia, with the first convention taking place in 2005. The time of the convention has been moved from April to early February, when sub-zero temperatures should make the environment much more conducive to gaming.

Gen Con officials feel Moscow is an ideal location despite a very small population of gamers and D&D being a virtual unknown in the country.

John Semlak, a member of the Moscow D&D Club, was excited by the announcement and hoped the convention should boost membership of his gaming group, which has struggled in recent months due to player absenses and difficulty finding a gaming location.

It may look weird, but this choice about moving GC to Moscow is part of a strategy to soon promote Russia's candidateship to EU. For the same purpose, in the following years, the GC could be moved to Israel, China and finally Huntsville-Texas.

Early estimates on attendance for the GenCon Moscow indicate that a venue of suitable size would be easy to find - John Semlak's appartment. :)

Actually we (the local organizers) are optomistic that the attendance will warrent a location bigger than that. We estimate at least double digets.

Having been to Moscow a couple of times, (And the joke not being lost on me), I could just imagine what it would be like with the peat <peet?> fire smoke rolling in on the convention so think that it obscures vision to just infront of your face.

You are engulfed in smoke.

Is that a Fort save?

No, your engulfed in smoke, I can't see you.

Last time I was there you couldn't see the Moscow River looking out the window of the Moscow Hilton and it is maybe 30 yards from it.

And that's no April fools.

.

Uh, while I'm no expert on Moscow's upmarket hotels, AFAIK there is no Hilton in Moscow. One is being built but its not near the Moscow River
