gen con west... any news?

Just wondering if there has been any news about the fabled gen con west other then their might be one somewhere most likely south west sometime in 2003. does anybody out there know any more?

While I vaguely recall hearing rumors of a GenCon West, the official page for GenCon http://www.gencon.com/pages/1/index.htm mentions nothing about any such convention, which is probably a good indicator that it won't happen, at least not this year.

There was an announcement on the Gen Con website a few months ago that said they decided to wait until 2004.

Note the use of icons above the word "Gen Con" in the main logo. Based on the logos below, the first one is for Europe, the second is for Indy. I'd guess that the third one, yellow and orange with a palm tree, is for Gen Con West (or LA or San Diego or whatever they'll call it), so it may not be dead.

I posted this news item last year:

According to the official GenCon page -- "Due to reorganization Gen Con So Cal has been pushed back to April 2004 and a new show, Gen Con Games Spectacular, will take place in Amsterdam in November of 2003."

Don't know if there have been any changes since then, though.
