Well, crap.

Just started looking for GenCon dates and found this old thread.

Well, crap-on-a-stick: I can't go to next year's GenCon. These late August dates really stink. I've got the "busiest time of the year at work" problem (I work for a school district and that's our hectic time as we prepare everything for the closing of summer school and the opening of 'regular' school).

And I, too, live in Milwaukee, where IrishFest is something of a religious thing for my wife's family. The old "anti-GenCon double whammy!"

That means it has a good chance of being on the same weekend as Irish Fest every year. Now if GenCon was still in Milwaukee, I could of gone to both.

Yeah, but one year of that and everyone would love GenCon housing in Milwaukee in a "normal" year.

People stay 30+ miles away for IrishFest. And sometimes the fest is going on at the same time as State Fair. That's some housing fun!

Peter Adkison (GenCon, CEO) posted some very brief information (i.e. no actual numbers) in the GenCon forums a couple of weeks ago. He pretty much said the 4 day attendance numbers were higher than 2003, but there was not the typical Saturday spike they were used to seeing. Again, no real numbers. Some people think that may indicate more people showed up and stayed for the four days instead of just coming on Saturday. Peter stated he was fine with the numbers overall.

As for exhibitors, he didn't say a lot other than he is "quite fine with where we're at on that too".
