GenCon swag?

So, should someone write up the GenCon Random Swag/Treasure Tables?

(I presume that World's Largest Dungeon would be at 00 on the "Major" item table, because dang man, a $100 gaming book as swag!)
The PC game company that produces City of Heros was giving away copies of City of Heros ($50) every now and then by doing answer the question. One of the question: Sandard movement rate of a human in 3.5?

Two DC Batman T-Shirts, they were handing them out at the Heroclics area.

Just going to add a little correction. The Batman t-shirts were from Upper Deck (I believe) promoting their VS card game. The booth was next to the WizKids area, where HeroClix demos were being run. WizKids was handing out the Pirate ship Revenge and temporary pirates tattoos for people playing in their Pirates of the Spanish Main demos, and various clix figures for the other game lines with their demos.

I ended up fairly light on swag, but still enjoyed what I got. I got a VS Batman shirt and DC poster, the WOTC minis they were handing out, a Cthulu for President card for the Cthulu CCG and a Cthulu for President bumper sticker from Game Trade magazine. I also got an interesting item from the t-shirt guy at the back of the retail area - a perfume sample pack for the perfume that MJ was advertising in Spider-Man 2. I didn't open mine, but I was told it smells like Play-Doh.

Year of Swag

As I reported to some of my gamers, here's a list of the swag I came home with:

"Six free T-shirts, a goodly number of free promotional minis, free dice, a D&D 30th Anniversary cup, a D&D 30th Anniversary pencil, a D&D 30th Anniversary tote bag, two posters, a free dungeon tile, two CDs, some buttons, some pins, two or three free card games, several booster packs from relatively unknown CCGs, six different magazines, and several comic books."

All told, it was the first time I'd ever found a lot of good swag at GenCon, although it was my fourth year to go. (2002 was almost a good year, but only in the T-shirt department.)

It's all a matter of swapping info with your friends, going through the coupons, and trying all the demos you can.

Hope this helps,
Flynn

Well I got the stuff from the Epic Party: Tote Bag, Poster, Cup, T-shirts.
The swag from the booth next to the EN World Booth which had a Freeport Book in it among other things.
Several Mini's from WOTC including 4 Wookies
A metal mini from Rackam (sp?)
Several Buttons
Starwars TCG Starter Set and Boosters.
An Eberron Music CD from somewhere.
Several Magazines and about 4 different KODT comics.
A couple of dice
A GOL Box (with Treant) for doing the WOTC demos adn dice roll.
I went and did the demo from Your Move Games to get the 9 free dice but they didn't have them at the time so the next day I went back several times and they kept saying "in about an hour we should have them" I never did get them. I am not mad but did anyone ever get them ?

Free swag...hmmm....I got:

D&D Tote Bag
2 D&D promo minis from Aberrations
1 Star Wars mini
1 Archfiends booster pack
Assorted buttons
Leather Coaster from True Dungeon
Standard-Issue GenCon Goodie Bag™
Poster-sized map created with Dundjinni
Eberron music CD sampler
nVidia t-shirt
&$*@-load of Hackmaster books (2 Hackmaster PHBs, 1 Hackmaster DMG, Enhacklopedia of Beasts III & VII), all for helping Dave Kenzer pack up his demo stuff after the Aces & Eights demo and helping carry it back to the booth.
4 packs of MLB showdown trading cards
and the piece d'resistance: A CHEESE WEASEL TOKEN

Next year, I'd hunt swag FIRST as some of the deals were exhausted by the time I went looking for them Saturday.

That's a pretty good rule for most things in the dealers' room: if you really want it, get it on Thursday (or Friday) -- but I agree, particularly true about the swag.

My guess is that the coupon book will be much larger next year, as it was a great idea. I tore out and pitched all the ones that didn't interest me, and still wound up visiting several booths that I wouldn't otherwise have spent much time at. The Confrontation tee shirt (from Rackham) was a pleasant surprise: black, cool and a good size! :)

I thought this con was one of the best I'd seen in years as far as swag goes.

I got a free copy of Code of Unaris and maps for being one of the first hundred people to the Goldleaf Games booth. That was great.

I got seven different t-shirts. One from the D&D party. Two from the Paizo people (for renewing my subscriptions to Dragon and Dungeon). One was from the Hades Pro guys (love them! They give so much!). One was from another booth that had a coupon in the book. I think the other two were from there also, but I'm not sure.

The Hades Pro people were, as mentioned, great about swag. I got not only a shirt from them, but a few posters, a huge plastic bag (great for the con), three products from Bastion Press (the Oathbound campaign setting being a great one, along with Allies & Adversaries and Friends & Familiars. I also got the DVD of Lupin III: The Dragon of Doom, and a cute lil' scarf and bag. Not to mention, STICKERS!

The D&D party gave out not only a t-shirt, but also the cool plastic cup, poster, and tote bag.

I managed to snag a free copy of the Hackmaster Player's Handbook from a great guy at the Kenzer booth when I mentioned I didn't play, but was swag-hunting. I'm pretty sure that was where I got my free copy of the KODT Origins 2004 special issue also.

The GAMA booth outside the Dealer's Hall had a limited number of bags with information and such that people could grab. In addition, mine had a free copy of Hammer & Helm: A Guidebook to Dwarves from Green Ronin.

Two different places inside the Dealer's Hall were giving out a copy of The Rifter, a gigantic (perfect-bound) magazine for Palladium, and PC Gamer, which was about the 30th anniversary of D&D.

And of course, the swag bags given to all con attendees had great stuff. Each one had a different old issue of KODT in there (I got two bags because of this, and got issues 52 and 53). They also had copies of Undefeated, Amazing Stories, and Dungeon in them. Dragon seemed to be in short supply, but that was nothing a visit to the Paizo booth couldn't cure.

And of course, the little things. WotC gave out a free mini, plenty of places had posters and buttons. It was great!
