No idea why this just occurred to me, and I probably just have weak google-fu and it's already been addressed somewhere, but what do people think about the Message spell for eavesdropping? The spell doesn't say the caster has to speak through the conduit, it picks up even whispered conversation by the target(s), and has no saving throw. Would it be a viable option for a caster at distance to cast on, say, two people speaking privately and use the spell to eavesdrop on the conversation?

Just curious as to folks' take on it.

Follow up random question: if Aradra wants to get some Adamantite Arrows, he has to order a full 20 correct? He cannot just order a small handful of them?

I don't see why you have to order a full quiver. Same principle as ordering a wand with less than full charges. Of course, you still only get one roll on it.

Okay, I am leveling Fulgrim up and am to the equipment stage. Any recommendations of must haves for a 4th level Dwarven Barbarian Invulnerable Rager? He has 4989gp with probably another *almost* 1000gp he could scrounge by selling some things to swap in.

Of note he has currently:

MW Great Axe
Agile Breastplate
Cloak of Resistance +1

So not very well equipped for the most part. Swapping the Great Axe for a +1 would be 2320gp. That takes me too low to try for a Belt of Giant Strength +2 this go around. Or I could go for the belt, but then be left with a non-magical weapon.

Gear gurus, help me, what must haves am I missing for a level 4 barbarian. Thanks!

I don't think it can be used for eavesdropping. My take is the target has to intend to send a response within the network of the spell for the magic to pick up on it and transport it.

I agree with GlassEye. The spell says you send a whispered message to the target and then they can send a whispered reply to you. I think the keys are that you send a message to them first and then it only transmits a reply to you - not necessarily any and all conversation.

Your base STR is 16 right now, so moving it to 18 is the best bet. It gains +1 to hit, but +2 to damage because you are not rounded down on the 1.5xSTR on a +4. In other words, 14, 18, 22, 26 are sweet spots for those who swing two handed weapons. So, go for the +2 STR belt.

Add to that one or two Oils of Magic Weapon, and you are covered for now. By fifth level you should get that magic weapon. Since you are upgrading it would be 2,000 gp net spending, not 2,320.

Or instead of the oils, scrounge a few coins and spend 1,000 upgrading the armor to +1. You have a lot of potions there. You can probably do both just fine.

I was about to respond to a bug report on the Lone Wolf forums, but thought I'd better check my understanding before I ran my mouth.

My understanding is this:

My character is wearing Bracers of Armor +6 and a +3 Chain Shirt. The Armor Bonus of the Bracers is larger than that of the CS, so they provide +6 AC. But the +3 magic bonus for the Chain Shirt is an Enhancement Bonus, so it stacks and the total AC bonus is +9. Is this correct? Or does the use of the Bracers completely negate everything about the Chain Shirt?
