General Green Ronin Update

There's so much going on here, I barely know where to start!

First things first, I suppose. Secret College of Necromancy is working its way from distributors' warehouses to retail shelves as we speak and should be available in stores by the weekend. A few lucky souls got to pick up early copies at KublaCon in Oakland lover Memorial Day weekend, but the wait is nearly over for everyone else.

Secret College of Necromancy co-author, Wolfgang Baur is going to be attending DieCon 2 this weekend and has some copies of the book with him. If you're planning to be at DieCon, be sure to track him down!

In other news, Pocket Grimoire Arcane and Pocket Grimoire Divine are at print and on track for their June release. We were very pleased to have the cooperation of so many d20 publishers with this product. Pocket Grimoire Arcane includes spells for Assassins, Bards, Sorcerers, and Wizards, arranged alphabetically for easy reference and contains all the arcane spells from the PH, plus spells from over a dozen of the best d20 sourcebooks, including the Book of Eldritch Might, Traps and Treachery, Codex Arcanis, The Tide of Years, and Freeport: The City of Adventure. Pocket Grimoire Divine includes spells for Adepts, Blackguards, Clerics, Druids, Paladins, and Rangers, arranged alphabetically for easy reference and contains all the arcane spells from the PH, plus spells from over a dozen of the best d20 sourcebooks, including the Book of Eldritch Might, Traps and Treachery, Akrasia: Thief of Time, The Tide of Years, and Freeport: The City of Adventure. Pocket Grimoire Divine also details over 35 clerical domains. All the spells have been edited
for clarity and revised with all known errata, making them the most up-to-date versions in print.

Next up, and in layout right now, is the first in our Races of Renown line, Hammer & Helm . Our local dwarf expert tells me that this book "rocks" and gave him "all sorts of evil ideas" and since he's currently running us through a dungeon of his own design (complete with evil-tainted dwarfs and an as-yet-unknown unpeakable horror) I shudder to think what's in store for us next. Hammer & Helm is on schedule for its July release and we expect to have copies in hand in time for Origins . (Since John Rhys-Davies is a Guest of Honor there, I'm thinking maybe I can get him to sign my personal copy. The actor who played the ultimate Dwarf signing the ultimate Dwarf book? :D)

Ok, enough geeky updates from me. I need to get back to work. The winners of the Green Ronin Official Convention Adventure Design Contest need to be announced in the next couple of days!

How about you have him sign 2 copies. Green Ronin could auction one off for charity (National Childhood Cancer Foundation or some other worthy charity). Just a thought...

You know, that's a really wonderful idea.

If I can only get one autograph, I'll put my personal copy up for a charity auction. Much better than me selfishly keeping the book for myself. :)

Actually, I had gotten my copy of Secret College of Necromancy yesterday. Two words... Undeadly nice :-) Now, it's time to make my 12th level Necromancer from 2nd Edition out and wake him in the land of 3rd Edition. So how you fit all that wonderful stuff in a deceptively small amount of space I wonder.

Looks like the ship has sailed and WotC has missed the boat. The lack of speed with which they've released SRD material has nixed the possibility of including material from the five WotC class books and this is the first real instance where I think the d20 publisher's market will have had the chance to directly affect the sales of WotC products. I can't imagine any player who games in a DM's campaign that uses multiple d20 sources not wanting to have these pocket books and it calls into question how wise the delays by WotC are, IMO. I'd imagine that some DMs might simply not be using the five class books very heavily (if at all) when running a game in a non-WotC setting and these books will certainly boost sales of non-WotC extended source materials while doing nothing for the sales of the five WotC class books.

However, it still looks like a nice way for Green Ronin to start the summer. Congrats on the releases! :)

I like the Grimories but I have say I'M VERY stoked for Secret College of Necromany AND Book of the Righteous. :) Both look and sound GREAT!

pocket grimoire question

Nicole,

Could you please post the complete list of products from which the "Pocket Grimoires" will be repriting spells? From your post, I can tell that Malhavoc, FFG, Green Ronin, Atlas, and Paradigm will be represented, but I was wondering what other companies' product was included.

Thanks!

Nicole--

I am curious. You mention the cooperation of other publishers. Does this mean that you asked permission, merely gave a heads up, or what? Was there any OGC you wanted to use but chose not to because you didn't get the 'cooperation' you felt was necessary?

EDIT: Not asking you to name names or anything! Simply that we all know that open content is, well, open, and I am wondering if a "hands off" precedent is being set.

This is a great chunk of open content, I am proud of you guys and everyone who contributed!
